Atlantis Resort (Bahama's)
I just posted this in the Destinations Board but I thought I would post here too!

I just read the Cruisemates artiicle called "Discovering Atlantis" = and checked out Royal Caribbean's Excursion list and I can't find this anywhere. I am booked on the Explorer in May and was interested in going here so has anyone gone to Atlantis either though an excursion or on your own? ... and can we get into the water park (will $ xtra since some our group want to try the hugh water slide!)

We went on our own, and you are not allowed to use the slide or any thing in the water park at the Atlantis. We paid a price to walk around the grounds and that is all you get to do. The dig was including in the price. They have security guards all over the place. I suggest flying there and staying there if you want to see it all.

Re: Atlantis Resort (Bahama's)
I have both stayed at the Atlantis and visited there off a cruise ship. There are a couple of ways to get there from the ship. You can take a water taxi from the area where the ships dock but you will still have a pretty good walk from where the water taxis dock to the Atlantis. Or, you can take a regular taxi which will take you to the door of the Atlantis. That's the best way.
You can not use the facilities unless you are a guest. They have security personel who will ask for I.D. to show you are a guest there. You can purchase a pass for $ 25.00 per person which will allow you to tour the hotel, grounds, the dig, etc. If you haven't been there, It's worth it to see the place. The passes are sold in the casino. Ask once inside and someone will direct you to the booth where they are sold.
If you try to sneak a swim or go on the slide, I don't think you would make it, but who knows. It's really a beautiful place to walk around and take photos, etc. The dig is especially interesting.

In high season the digs at the Atlantis costs $35.00. You must have been there in slow season.

Carol--- I had some $ 3.00 bills with Bill Clintons picture on them. Guess that fooled them enough that I got in for $ 25.00 !! Too bad I spent them all.

Re: Atlantis Resort (Bahama's)
We did the Atlantis Beach Day earlier this month. You take a ferry over to Paradise Island and get a tour of the Harbor. A complimentary glass of fruit punch is included but it tastes like it was made with sea water. It was a nice day when we got off the ship but by the time we got to Atlantis and they gave us the tour the weather had changed and it was too cold and windy to go in the water. Once at Atlantis they give you a walking tour and tell you where things are and then lead you to your "reserved" area on the beach. It's in the back about as far away from the rest of the resort as you can get. However the resort is beautiful and the aquariums are great. We didn't try to sneak into the pools but we did sit in the pool area for a while and no one said a word to us except when we left the casino to the back areas and they asked to see the band.

Re: Atlantis Resort (Bahama's)
Was there a week ago (Voyager).
Dont buy from the ship!! It's a big rip off.
For about $15 you can get a taxi - will take you 10 mins to get to Atlantis.
You can walk around and see aquarium for free.
If you want a wrist band to see the Dig, use the beach, etc. - thats $26 pp.
You will not be able to use waterpark in any case - only for hotel guests.

Re: Atlantis Resort (Bahama's)
If you want to use the waterpark, the best option is to rent a day room and you get to use the facilities.
In the past you could rent a day room at Comfort Suites and get to use the facilities. I am not sure if they are stilling doing that, I would call and ask them. It is quite a nice option, as they have a change room in Atlantis and one can walk all over the grounds. Plus if you are like me it is fun to lie in the lazy river or sit in the nearby hot tubs.
It was a great way to see the resort and one of these days we plan to go there for a vacation.
