Hi Al,
I found the hairdryers on Jewel to be pretty good, they seemed plenty powerful and did the job. Since Mariner is a fairly new ship, I would think they use the same hairdryers and you should be fine.

The hairdryers on board are pretty good. If you do have a problem with the one in your cabin, just have your cabin steward exchange it. The one I had on the Empress set off the smoke dector in our room. Luckly it was only for a few seconds and no sprinklers turned on. That would have been embarrassing. Our cabin steward just brought me a brand new one. Terri

If you have long hair...I would bring your own! The hair driers are small and I have thick hair so it takes FOREVER to dry! Also, you have to press the little button to have it on, if your finger slips off, the hairdrier goes off. They are NOT good!
Hope I helped!

I have thick hair too, but I found the dryers on the Explorer just fine. No need to carry around a dryer of your own... save some space in your suitcase!

They are ok, like mentioned above you have to keep your finger on the button the
whole time. It turns off if you dont. We were on EOS, so maybe some ships have different ones. I take a travel size dryer with us.

One more thing - the hair dryer is in the top drawer of the vanity/desk. It took me forever to find it. Take a little piece of duck tape or a rubber band to hold down the button.

I just bought a travel size one from Brookstones that seems to work well. I dont like to count on the hairdryers that come in the rooms because I too have thick hair and I need something will a little power.

I brought my own when I sailed on the Explorer . For what I used it for the one provided was just fine. I actually never even unpacked the I had with me.
