I know that the new rule at Royal Caribbean is that travel agents can not advertise a lower price than the cruise brochure. Is there another way to suggest the agent to lower prices? Reducing commissions, on board credits, or other amenities? What is a tacktful or polite way to ask the TA for these things after they quote you the brochure price?
First off... brochure pricing, and what RCI sells the cruise for (and allows TAs to sell them for) are normally different. You should check the RCI web site for actual prices.. NOT the brochures. Even RCI's own pricing changes along the way.
TAs arent allowed to discount commissions, but many offer value added options, and you should simply ask the TA you are getting quotes from if they offer any additional "perks" with their pricing.
