Hi we will be sailing AOS in Oct. One of our stops is Curacao. It doens't look like there is much to do there. Anyone who has been there can you give us any ideas on what there is to see and do there? Is there good shopping there?
Curacao is a beautiful island. We took RCI's "Fun Bus" excursion to Playa PortoMari. It's a very pretty beach with great snorkeling. It's also fun to just walk around town and explore. Have fun!
We loved curacao, the town has great little shops and cafes. We also took a half day excurstion that went to a aquarium that a had small dolphin show, a distillery and some other neat sites on the island. Me and my wife were very thankful we spent time in this port seeing as much of it as we did.
When we were in Curacao, first we went snorkeling, then shopping, they have alot of little stores. Its very beautiful there and very colorful. If you want to go the beach I am sure they are lovely, but its not the only thing to do there.

We were in Curacao last fall on AOS. There was a small marketplace as you got off ship and walked to the main part of town. You can walk over a floating bridge to get into town. The town itself was samll and we just walked around. There was a huge areana in the middle of town that looks like it could be a scoccer field. The area under the bleaches was used for selling local food and stuff like a farmers market. Unfortunately it had a rainstorm tthat lasted about an hour and I mean rained like a northeaster! We had thought about taking a horse and carriage ride around town but beceause of weather that had closed up and no horses around. The other islands you will be going to are much nicer so i would suggest make a short trip to see island and then back to ship for relaxing day
You can try Kon Tiki beach, you can take the bus in town up there for only 50 cents nice beach with breakwater. Cab will run you 14 bucks. A cheap half day with time to shop later on.
So you can take the public bus to the beach area? That sounds like a great idea. Is this beach nice? Can you snorkle there? Are there facilities at this beach? As for shopping are there any good buys there?
