Can you take camcorders into the shows?? Like the Ice show-the dinner shows-Quest-Love & Marriage??? This is a new toy for me and it has become my new best friend, meaning I am liking the camcorder more than a camers!! And I am wondering if I can have it with everywhere I go on the ship???
Thanks for your help,
sanditoes

When I was on the Explorer of the Seas last year, during a comedy show the comedian actually stopped the show and made someone turn off their video camera.
Yes all shows are off limit due to copyright laws (they announce this). I believe photos are ok sometimes, but no flash since it can interfere with the performers vision, and others around you. If you are lucky enough to get a ships tour (ie the belly of the ship, etc) that is off limits. Also be careful in immigration and customs areas of airports and ports (there are signs everywhere about no taping or pictures). Otherwise, you can have it in any public area of the ship. Keep in mind though, after being in your nice ac cabin, you could have some fogging and electronic problems due to the humidity once outside. And whatever you do, dont take it to the beach. Sand and salt water will ruin any camera (video or still) in a heartbeat! I fried my first video camera with a few drops of saltwater while filming baby seals in Australia (stupid me left the underwater housing back on the ship because it was so bulky-it was a Great White Shark expedition). It ruined the rest of my 2 month tour of Oz, and still never worked right after several repairs.
They most likely wont take it away from you (except maybe in a customs area) but they would probably just tell you to keep it in your bag. I was going to film my son at his first Nascar race and the guy said video camera werent allowed in. Instead of having to trek back to my car to leave it, he said just to keep it in the bag. Dont worry about your question-it wasnt dumb. I wouldnt have thought a show had copyrights either. Just know from experience (like concerts, etc) and the announcements. You will probably still see some people taking videos and flash photography though. Plus with the technology today you could probably use a cell phone to shoot some footage too! If youre not sure about being able to film, you can always ask. Just think if its a show, no filming (photos are sometimes ok as long as not flash since it can blind the performers), and if it could be a potential security target/issue, dont film or take photos.
yes. We actually were not thinking about it and took ours out to film what the casino looked like "what idiots" i know, It wasn't 2 seconds and the casinio mgr was there.
there were no games going on the casinio was empty at the time but it still was not allowed.
Whenever we go on a trip to a humid area, I purchase fog prevention caplets from a sporting goods store. You can find them in the underwater camera/scuba section. I put one in my fanny pack (in the part where I keep my digital camera). I also add one to my camcorder case. We usually go to Florida during August where it is very humid and rainy. These caplets are a great way to keep your equipment in good shape. You can also use those little bags filled with a granular substance that comes in the box when you buy something electronic.
As for the beach, if you have a digital camera, look to see if the manufacturer offers an underwater case for it. I bought one for my camera and never worry about sand or water. I've taken some extraordinary underwater pictures and my beach pictures are clear and crisp. Why miss those memories when you don't have to!
The staff on the ship are used to dealing with thousands and thousands of passengers. They will always let you know when it's not appropriate to use your camcorder. I was told to pack mine away when we returned from Nassau and were signing in with our seapasses. I though it would be a nice scene to film my son reboarding but it was not to be. They were very nice about it.

I can't wait to answer questions when we get back that should help with this depression I hear sets in!!!
