Has anyone ever flown into Melbourne Airport and got transportation to Port Canaveral? We will be spending the night before the cruise and need to know how to get to the ship. Thanks
I grew up in the Cocoa Beach area but have never flown into Melbourne myself. Besides being more expensive to fly into, Since it is a smaller airport, it can and does shut down sometimes due to weather conditions. If I remember correctly it is about a 20-25 minutes ride to PC depending on traffic. We have rented a car from Budget and returned it at their location about 1/2 mile south of the port. There is also Cocoa Beach Shuttle, Arts Shuttle and Mears Shuttle services to PC. Flying into Orlando is your other option which is where we fly in for cruises and visits. The drive is about 45 minutes on the B-line and we have stayed at the Radisson, Comfort Inn and our favorite Hampton Inn. Have a great cruise.

We stayed at the Radisson in Melbourne before our last cruise and drove up A1A to get to the port. Hit a lot of lights but like CA Cruiser said, it was only about a 30 minute ride in the car to get there. Melbourne is quieter though and not as touristy. Just my opinion but if you want accessibility and convenience to get to the port, I would say, stay in Cocoa Beach.
I've flown into Melbourne - its a pretty good size airport. They can fly in 737's & such, but really don't. I know JetBlue (as of 3 years ago) was pushing to start flying into there.
It's still a puddle jumper airport & not a high volume airport as some of the bigger neighboring cities nearby.
The only airline that I know of that regularly flies into Melbourne is Delta, I don;t even think Spirit flies into there any more. I think that their landing fees are very high.
I have family in Melbourne that is the only reason why I know anything at all about the airport. Other than it is small, very nice and never crowded.

I found airline tickets to be $200 cheaper a person by flying into Melbourne than Orlando. Instead of $1200 for the 3 of us, it was $600. We haven't made the reservations yet and was wondering if Cocoa Beach was better. Thanks for all your help.
Sandy, where are you flying from. I live in the Phila area and it is 3x as expensive to fly into Melbourne than Orlando. I can fly into Orlando for 150.00 round trip.
