Default Ft. Lauderdale flight for Miami port

I'm looking into booking the flights for our cruise in January and have found much better rates and itineraries if we fly into Ft. Lauderdale instead of Miami. Has anyone else done this? We're going to be flying in the day ahead and staying in a hotel in Miami. Is there a shuttle I can take from one airport to the other? The hotel offers a shuttle from Miami airport but not Ft. Lauderdale. Our ship departs from the Miami port. Any advice would be welcome!

You can just get a transfer from royal carribean, they have buses at the airport. but the transfer cost may outweigh the savings of flying into FLL. For instance we are going on celebrity in January if we fly into miami the cost is 198 pp for the flight and a roundtrip transfer to the ship is 29pp. If we fly into FLL the cost of the airline is 158rt but the transfers are 40pp roundtrip.

There is a shuttle from FLL to Miami. My wife & I took it in March when we sailed on the Brilliance. They are located right outside each terminal, no reservation is required, and the cost is $17.00 pp. We took it from FLL to the Holiday Inn Port of Miami.

Yes Sal is right they do not require a reservation, I remember doing that when we booked the Explorer of the Sea. We went to the desk in the airport and got the ticket for the bus. The cost was put on our sea pass account.

I want to say thanks for this post. We are doing the same thing in January going on the navigator, and were wondering the same thing. Now, what about getting your luggage off the boat back to Ft. L Airport. Do we have to do that ourselves, or will the boat make sure they get to the airport?
