Default Hurricane

Due to the Hurricane Voyager did not dock in Grand Bahamas. Just thought it would have been nice if they would have offered 1/2 price drinks for the day. Some kind of jester would have been nice.

it's funny you should mention about offering 1/2 price..I am reading this great book called Devil on the Deep Blue Sea, which is about the history of modern cruising and spends alot of chapters on Carnival. On their very first ship, full of travel agents and industry folks they ran up on a sandbar...the only thing the owner could think of was opening up the bar and giving everyone free drinks (a concept unheard of in this time)...everyone was having so much fun and drunk, they did not complain about being stuck..this the origin of Carnival's theme the 'fun ships"..Now that they are a multi billion dollar company, it's probably not cost effective to do this..but in it's time it was a great customer oriented gesture

Yes but I think that is like comparing apples to oranges! The cruise line cannot control the weather, but I'm quite sure they can control cruising directly onto a sand bar in some way!

Compensation for running aground, yes, but for altering the path to get out of harm's way, let's be serious folks!
It's not their fault there was a hurricane!

No offense, but why do people whine when their ship gets diverted or cancelled by a Hurricane?

HELLO!! It's hurricane season! Expect the unexpected! You know its hurricane season, you hear it on the news every year. If you want a perfect cruise, don't go during the fall season.

You can't listen to the boards anymore that "getting diverted during hurricane season is rare" as written (even on here in the article, "Cruising during Hurricane season") by the so-called experts. HELLO! Global warming is messing up the seasons & creating more hurricanes - not less. Florida had 4 last season & all of them messed up the cruise lines last year with all the diversions the ships had to take to skirt around these storms that came almost back to back.

I live in Connecticut. We don't have spring anymore. We go straight from winter, to several weeks of rain & directly into summer with high humidity. Our winters? Getting colder with more snow. The seasons? All changing. Fall doesn't begin now until late October. The winter doesn't get cold until January & spring doesn't start until late April. It's no secret here in the Northeast, we all see it. Global warming is a serious issue.

Well, if you all saw that last episode of South Park, you would know that global warming is caused by too much farting. It's true, there was a scientist on the show that said if everyone farted more thay would be happier. Apparently, there was a problem there with spontaneous combustion caused by holding in methane gases. By farting, they avoided the SC. The end result was it trapped in the heat and they sweltered in Colorado. In the end, the same scientist said if they farted in moderation that the global warming would be controlled.

If you read all the fine print of the terms and conditions in your cruise documents, the captain has the last word on where you are going. He has the authority to change destinations or stay at sea and there is nothing you can do about it. Yes a free drink would be nice, but that's how they make money. Sorry!

On the last cruise we went on we missed 2 of our scheduled stops. We missed Labadee due to political issues there (Freeport was substituted, but not much of a substitute in my opinion) and we just sailed by Grand Cayman. We were told the waves around Grand Caymen were too large to tender in (sunny day, no storms).

Sometimes things happen. No 1/2 price drinks. No special offers. If you look at the fine print it says that the cruise line has the right to alter the itinerary.
