Everyone wants a window seat!! In our experience, it is either too dark to see out, they have the curtains pulled for the ambiance or as experienced on my last cruise, the sun was setting and it was right in our eyes and we were in the middle of the dining room. Someone by a window opened the curtains and I was immediately blinded!! The best time IMO to request a window seat, with a view would be at open seating breakfast or lunch. They usually want to seat you with others to fill tables but I have "gently" insisted on sitting at the next table so I have have a window seat for breakfast. They smile and no problems. Afterall, they are there to please.
