Default cabin not ready what to do with carry on's?

I hear now that the cabins are not ready until 1pm and the fire doors are shut. I knew cabins were not ready but you could always put your stuff into the cabin the fire doors were not shut. So now that they are shut waht are people doing with the carry on's? Is anyone leaving them next to the fire doors? This would not have stuff of value in it. Or can you sneak to the cabin and put it in it?

Many times the room are ready long before that. We have gotten in by 11:30. Otherwise, we took the carry ons and just went up to the Windjammer, found a table and took turns watching the carry ons and getting our food. By the time we came back down, the room was ready.....

Sometimes you can go and just put your carryons in the closet then go to lunch. On the Monarch recently you could check your carry ons in the library for holding.

Just cruised on the Majesty of the Seas last week....the fire doors are now closed on all decks and security personnel posted at the doors (they were not allowing anyone to leave their luggage or enter their staterooms), we were told to return at 1:00 p.m. We took our carry-ons with us to the Windjammer for lunch (no big deal since we had luggage with wheels) and the fire doors opened promptly at 1:00 p.m.

Rosetattoo is correct, we were on The Brilliance in March and the fire doors were closed. Additionally, there was security on each floor by the elevators and stairs. So what do you do with your carry on? You schleap it around until 1:00, so pack light.

On the Serenade in April... same situation, locked fire doors. Didn't see any security anywhere but you couldn't get in until 1 PM so it was off to the Windjammer.

Whats with the change? Whats wrong with them just letting us drop off our stuff and leaving them to finish their duties? How can that hurt? Sounds like they are putting unnecessary inconvieniences on their passangers, unless there is an unknown, underlying, safety issue that we are not made aware of. Does anybody know? In the past I always have liked to get to the ship and board as early as possible. I am on the Mariner next April.

I don't think it's a security issue as much as it's that they don't want to be stumbling over passengers and bags while they are trying their darndest to get all their rooms in order for the next onslaught of passengers.

When we were on the Majesty in March, we gave our bags to a porter and he delivered them to our room, even though we couldn't get in until after 1:00. Of course, the $10 probably greased the skids.

Especially after London, unattended bags are a security threat. If you see one, report it & it will be investigated. To avoid all the hassle, just keep yours with you & don't leave it somewhere.

Same situation on Sovereign of the Seas when whe cruised July 4th. Fire doors did promptly open at 1 pm. We just checked all our luggage in at the dock and it was delivered to our room at 1:30 pm. Only thing that we actually carried on was our camera bag.

Okay, why is not being able to leave your bags in the cabin before they are finished cleaning such a big deal? It could be worse, they could leave you sitting out at the pier without the lunch and then let you on a 1:00pm.

Easy solution to this situation, :try not to get to the pier until 12:30pm, or is that going to cause you to have to wait in line with other passengers? Decisions, decisions. Just enjoy the cruise people!
