Vikki,
Just sailed the Monarch last month and yes there is a formal night, Saturday. I did not see any tuxes, just suits and many in just long sleeves and ties but many long gowns, pant suits (me) and sundresses for the ladies.

Great, so there is no need for my husband to pack a suit. A long sleve shirt and tie is O.K.? I hate to miss formal night, but it is too much of a hassle to pack a full suit.
It would all depend on how dressed up you get. One thing we have done in the past is instead of packing DH suit is just carry it on in a duffle bag and as soon as we can go to the cabin, put it in the dry cleaning bag and send it out. It comes cleaned, pressed and looking nice for formal dinner.
I did this cruise with my sister and we just did carry ons; 1 rolling and 1 duffle bag. We parked at 11am and boarded the ship at noon. We never had to sit and wait. You can't go to your cabin until 1:30 pm. You can check your luggage in at the library then go have lunch in the Windjammer if you want. Have a great time.
Yes I did see tables for 2 but go after you check in and arrange it.
