Default Best hotel for Port of LA!

Can anyone recommend the most convenient hotel to stay the night before boarding RCL cruise the following day in Port of Los Angeles? A very nice clean hotel with possible shuttle provided would be great.

I haven't stayed here yet but it has pretty good ratings on TripAdvisor and I got a good deal. It is the Hilton Long Beach. We got a room on the executive floor which includes free breakfast and access to the Executive lounge with free drinks and appetizers for $129 per night. It is apparently not too far from the cruise port. I don't think there are any shuttles but I was told a taxi shouldn't be too much. Hope this helps somewhat.

Do the cruise ship actually sail from LA, or do they sail from Long Beach? We are booked on the Sumitt in March 2006, and while the Itin says LA, I was led to believe that it is actually Long Beach.

There are 2 cruise ports. Long beach which is where Carnival leaves from, and The Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro which is where everyone else leaves from. Once in a while other lines will leave from Carnivals port, but normally this port is only for Carnival. You will need to check with the cruise line and ask which port. ALL RCL ships leave from Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro. FYI...the 2 ports are right next to each other, just a few miute apart. You can see 1 from the other.

If I remember correctly The cruise ship port is close to Long Beach CA
If that is so I can highly recommend the Coastal Long Beach Hotel.
