Hi Moore,We will be sailing on AOS on10/09/05.The only problem I have is that the ship docks out at the Pan American pier. The Pier in on the other side of the harbor from Old San Juan.
If you arrive early[we have boarded as early as 12 noon]after having lunch you can go off the ship and catch a cab to Old San Juan.Go to Pier 4 ,as you look at the pier go to the right there is a free shuttle[across from the Wynndom hotel] that takes you up to the fort. After the fort get back on the shuttle and on the return to where you picked it up it goes thru Old San Juan back to the pick up point. Then you can walk back up into OSJ on your own. This will take about an hour or so.
One suggestion at the ship try and hook up with someone for the cab.I think the cost is $10 each way,you can save a little.
Also if you want there is a small bodago[grocery store] near the park in the center, where you can pick up soda or things you might want.I get soda for the room because it is cheaper to bring on board.
The main thing ENJOY your cruise.
We always go the day before
,we are staying at the HoJo in Isle Verde and am paying $100 for the night.

Default Airport Hints

When you walk out of the airport, you need to go to the taxi desk to get a ticket for the taxi driver. They have a set fee, plus $1 per bag charge. Also when returning to the airport, you have to bring the bags to the agriculture check before checking them and getting your boarding pass. I saw a lot of people stand in line to check their bags and then get sent to agricultural check and get back in the long line to check in again.

We stayed in Old San Juan at the Sheraton. It was very nice. I've heard you can get a great rate on priceline. We did it through our TA, so we paid too much, but the hotel is great.
