Default Best Price for a Cruise

Hi all,

My husband, kids and I have been on three cruises in the last 3 years. We have convinced my siblings and parents to join us on another one but the prices have jumped $300 per person. Now I do not know if they will go. When is the best time to book? How can I get a bettter rate. I have called my travel agent and checked with another and also on RCCL website. We will be going in Novemeber of 2006, want a newer ship, and prefer Southern or Eastern Carrbbean. We are traveling the same time we have in the past. Any hints

Thanks so much,

Linda A.

Try the link above.. you ask for anonymous bids for the cruise and date you are after. Various cruise agents bid on your request, and your only direct contact is if you choose to contact one of the agents who bid.

Linda,
How many people(cabins) can you muster for your trip??? If you can create your own group(8 or more cabins) you can find substantial savings.
Some have advertised the cruise to obtain the numbers they needed. You have enough time to give the group cruise a look. I'm surprised your travel agent didn't suggest that route. Anyone can book through your group...some have even gone on the web and got swamped!

There's has been a few articles posted here & there that cruise prices (in general, not any particular line) are going up.

Now, with the unstable gas prices, I'm sure eventually it'll be passed onto us. But just like everything else, all prices go up eventually.

HOWEVER, there is another way to maybe reduce your price. Some (not all) airlines are getting (more now than before) into the Travel business besides flying.

I know American Airlines has a cruise site & various lines they are involved with. Sadly, Royal is not one of them - yet. You can use your FF miles towards a trip to reduce the price or use them to book a regular vacation.

Something to look into.

Its funny you should mention that. When we were in St Marrten at the begining of the month one of the Carnival ships was refueling from a barge while in port. I can only assume they were doing it becasue at the time stuff was going through the roof in the US.

I've found the best prices shortly before the sail date (e.g. weeks). However, you may not find a room if you wait that late or you may not find a room category you are interested in. The safest advice is to book as early as possible if your dates are solid. If you can travel last minute, I would try the bargain finder page on this website or Vacations to Go that advertises on this site.

We try to book during hurricane season, rates are at there best. We have been able to book suites very reasonable, and DH & I love the rocking. Gives us a great nights sleep.
