Great upgrade.

Have never stayed in one, but I can tell you:

* Nearly positive the sofa will be a pullout

* Inside cabins do not have a safe, so I am thinking the same will apply

* You should get robes (because they give those to Platinum passengers on Monarch)

Hi! We just went on the Monarch and the same thing happened to us--we booked a Jr, suite on deck 9 and were upgraded to a Grand Suite a few cabins down. It was very nice! The balcony was HUGE! There was a bathtub and plush terry cloth robes. I didn't check to see if the sofa pulled out but I think it must have because there were 3 or 4 life jackets.
You will be treated so well! When we went to check in, we were escorted to a private lounge to wait to board with chocolate covered strawberries and coffee and tea. Then we were escorted through a private VIP line onto the ship. Each afternoon a special treat awaited us in our cabin: the first night, sushi, the second night, a cheese plate and the third night, chocolate covered strawberries and pastries. When you arrive to your cabin, a wonderful fresh fruit bowl will be there.

It was so fun to be upgraded (there are only a few of these cabins on the ship!) but I never did find out why we were upgraded. We had just become platinum and it was also our anniversary. Maybe they upgraded you because you are celebrating your birthday??

If you decide to go on any excurions in Ensenade, skip the blow hole! Waste of money! We went on the wine excursion and it was pretty nice...

Hope you have a great time!

The wine country tour is a great value. I also like just poking about town.

Here is a link for things to do:
