Default Getting on and off the ship?

I am going on the Serenade of the Seas on a so. car in Nov and I just want to know if when I get there, can I check in, eat and then get back off the ship to look around san juan or once you are on the ship, you stay on? We fly in early so we were hoping to be able to do some shopping in San Juan. Thanks!

Boarding should start right around NOON, or shortly thereafter. No problem leaving the ship to see San Juan, and then returning as many times as you like.

We have done this several times. Easy to get off again. And once off the ship in San Juan, there is a shuttle (small charge) to ride around the city. We took the shuttle up to El Morro and wandered around this wonderful old fort, and then walked (it's all down hill) down to the shopping street, La Fortalaza (this may be spelled wrong), and from there back to the ship. It was a lot of fun.
