Default Cruise Director for Freedom of the Seas?

Does anyone happen to know who the CD will be on the Freedom of the Seas?

Well I look forward to meeting him! Have only seen him on TV...the Radiance Alaska thing they did on the Travel Channel over here.

Hopefully, he will help take the sting off the high price tag of the Maiden Voyage....which never really bothered me until all of the "free" pre-inagural cruisers started surfacing.

Regardless, I am going to have a fabulous, awesome time, and not let those people get to me!

Keep an eye on her for me in the meantime, okay?

Ken was part of the Take Out Team and hence was CD on most of the Voyager class and Radiance class vessels at start up.

I am sure you will have "a fabulous, awesome time" on the FR.
She is not my favorite, but I must admit she is beginning to look Grand.

Roland,
You are a good study!

I have a feeling I will come away from FOS with an ever-strengthened love of the Radiance class, if I am being honest. BUT, my big Four O' (no!) birthday is Memorial Day....so I'll be cruising a landmark ship in celebration of a landmark birthday.

Thanks Tracy,

Glad to hear you love the Radiance class ships They are indeed a special kind of breed and I fell in love when I saw the first blueprints.

Yep, that ship is near perfection! Didn't care for the little shopping area which was always congested when open, so I just avoided it. It's the only space on the ship where I ever felt closed-in. Absolutely beautiful!!

To get back on the topic of cruise directors, I was fortunate to sail on Radiance with Marc (bing bong) Walker, the CD, with Capt. (hurdy gurdy) Loeking at the helm. Looking forward to Ken Rush and Capt Wright on FOS!

Thanks for keeping us up-to-date on her!

So you had Marc Walker as CD and Rune Lokling as Master on the RD.
Rune "shares" the RD with Hernan Zini.

Back in 2001 when the RD was brand new, Gordon Whatman was CD and he has also served as CD during 2005. Bill Wright shared the RD with Kent Ringborn (retired) as Master during the first year.
As for Bill, he will only be onboard the FR during the first 6 weeks as a PR assignment and will be relieved by Carlos Pedercini.

Does anyone know what ship Richard Spacey is on now? I had him last year on the Adventure and he was absolutely amazing. We just got off the Serenade (beautiful ship!!!!) and Kirk Detweiler was the CD. Definitely a little disappointed with him. We miss Richard!

Ken Rush told us last year (while sailing on Navigator) that he would be the cruise director on Freedom. Announced it in front of hundreds of people--so this shouldn't be a huge surprise.

How can I get a job as the Cruise Director? I think that is what I want to do when I grow up. 8)

Dave,
I am sure your Cruisemate fans could easily fill a ship! I'm still waiting for a cruise-director-organized game of quarters....or "Viking" in a hot tub is always lots of fun!

When you grow up & take that job I'll be sure to book the ship you are working on.
Until then I'd rather hang out with you as a passenger kicking back a few cold ones at the pool bar & enjoying the scenery

Sounds like you and Dave may need to take this conversation back over to that other thread...the one with the big pink triangle on in.

So Roland,
Any chance you will hitch a ride over to the US on Freedom? I'm thinking of driving up to NY in May to have a look at her when she gets here!

No Tracy,
No time for a crossing this time. Will have to settle with visits in Turku and a one-nighter from Oslo.

Hey Tracy. I read somewhere you are doing the four oh on your next cruise. I just did that one and no big deal. Maybe we should cruise together and I can help you celebrate your BD.

Dave,

I was so panicked when I turned 30, that I took the whole week off work to mourn. Learned my lesson though....my thirties have been my favorite decade so far!! So, I am keeping the same positive attitude about the forties.

I have a feeling we'll run into each other at the Pool Bar sometime.....somewhere! Can't decide if my next cruise (after FOS) will be in Oct or Dec...guess it depends how much damage I do on my SeaPass in June!

Will have to keep an eye on your sig file when I am deciding on a cruise.

Tracy

Sounds good. I am thinking of Freedom in May '07 or at the least the Mariner. Yes, 30's were good but so far the 40's (41) have been even better now that I am single again!

DtW, Why not sail a brand new ship like the EV instead of the FR.
Or if you prefer many sea days, I suggest a Trans-Atlantic on the NV 8)

Certainly a possibility. The Endeavor will be out but then? Trans on NV?

Yapp, the EV will be ready and out then if you prefer the Caribbean.
The NV will sail eastward to Europe in April.
