"Yacht Club" isn't really a club, just a public sitting area. The "Concierge Club" is restricted to guests with suites and "Diamond" members.

Tks....that's what I thought it might be. Just wondering if
we could use it, as we're still a few cruises away from
Diamond...soon, though.

The Concierge Lounge is a nice perk and on cruises where there are a lot of Suite/Diamond members, they move their evening location to facilitate more people having drinks and munchies. If you are like us, Diamond status will be here before you know it, especially with the "cruise credit" feature.

Not at all TCG,
But the problem is, that those lounges were meant to be used by suite guests only and are not large enough to accomodate the ever growning number of Diamonds and Diamond Pluses. Hence other areas -often up in VCL- are used for the overflow to house all who qualify for use of the CC. On the FR, there is a part of VCL to which probably only C&A Diamonds will have access.

I agree there needs to be changes to the current system. I have enjoyed the lounges since their inception as both a "Diamond" member and as a suite guest on one occasion. But I don't go near there in the pre-dinner hours, it is usually too crowded. Due to the cruise credit system, I will be "Diamond Plus" this year, and without being snobbish, I am certain I am going to wish "RCI" would thin the herd.

Roland, what is FR (Freedom?) We'll be on June 25th. but still
not a Diamond til after Radiance cruise in November...Looks like
there is not room for us in CC lounge, and have always liked
and used VC lounge, so will probably continue to do so even when
we make Diamond.

Also, what is the cruise credit system you're referring to? Is it
the Captain Club's system of different levels per cruises that
have been taken? Do Celebrity cruises count? As we've gone on
a number of them.

I guess it depends on when you cruise or when you go to the lounge. On Navigator in November, we used the CC lounge every evening from about 5 - 6 pm. There was never more than 10 - 15 people in there. An Adventure last March, I don't recall seeing more than about 10 people using the lounge.

One of the reasons (besides the fact I like RCI) I choose RCI over other lines are the perks I get as a Diamond member (even though they aren't many I find I save approximately $200 - $300 because of the perks).

Rather than take the CC perk away from Diamond members maybe RCI should consider a larger lounge area for the evenings.

You get two "cruise credits" on RCI for cruises of 12-nights or longer, or for staying in a suite. Basically the same on Celebrity. In February we were in a Concierge Class cabin on the Infinity, but got credit for two cruises.

RCI cruises only count toward your C & A status, and Celebrity cruises only count toward your Captain's Club status. However, if you are Diamond level on RCI, you have equivalent status (Elite) on Celebrity, and vice versa.

Tks for helping to clarify it for me...Still I'll be in Diamond
later this year...then watch all you CC lounge goers, I'll be
hanging out there exclusively...NOT...I love all parts of the
ship, and usually have my favorite places to be during
the day and especially during early evening hours when
early diners are getting ready for dinner...One of the best times
on the ship...nice sunset, cool breezes, and less passengers
on deck or by pool, or in lounges.

Happy cruisin.

I think one of the reasons most people use the CC lounge in the evening is the FREE drinks (and no you can't take the drinks with you). The other nice thing about the CC lounge is no one under 18 is allowed between 5 - 8 PM. I also agree that during the 5 - 7 pm time fram is a great time to be be on deck or in the lounges (or casino) because everyone is getting ready for dinner.

Sorry about the double post before. I used to work in the Department of Redundancy Department.

About bringing drinks out of the Concierge Lounge......depends on the Concierge. On our last RCI cruise, there was no problem, especially if I went into the lounge in my tux and told him I wanted to take a couple of drinks back to our cabin for a pre-dinner drink. Don't know if that will work on all ships, though.

I'm Diamond, and my favorite time in the Concierge Lounge is early morning. I get up and out of the cabin, go to the lounge while hubby is taking his time getting ready. I can have my coffee, meet with friends and have a light breakfast while I wait. And on Radiance Class ships, I can watch the ocean view outside. I sure don't want to give up my Concierge Lounge, I love it.
