We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for our pre-cruise. Small, comfortable, very clean & nice. Rooms are a bit small, but for 2 people, it was fine. Close (within 3 blocks) of restaurants, the lagoon & a drug store (for any last minute cruise items). I think we paid like $75 a night? It's about a 20 minute ride from the airport & about 10 minutes from the dock (take the cab).
They also have a concierge, so if you want to explore the Rainforest, Caves or the Observatory (where they filmed the James Bond movie), you can get the tour right from the hotel. We plan on staying there again for our next cruise.
P.S. There is a steak resturant about 5 blocks down & about 1 block over. They serve Argentina beef (think Argentina cows vs. our cows). If you are a meat eater, that beef is soooooooo much more tender & flavorful than American beef. Price is inexpensive, and nice romantic atomosphere. It's on a corner & the name escapes me at the moment.
