Daniel... if you have women coming with you... you will want the power strip for their "appliances"

I recommend post it notes. You can stick messages on cabin doors or mirrors or someplace prominent so you can let others travelling with you in your cabin or other cabins know where you are on the ship.

"Downy Wrinkle Release" and put it in a travel size spray bottle. Leave the steamer/travel iron at home.

Pack less than you think you'll need.

Pack quick dry undies. Especially for longer cruises. You only need 2-3 pairs. Wear one, wash one and one pair just in case. But that's all you need. They wash and dry really really fast!

Post it notes are a great idea...we use them all the time!

Power strip?

We packed an extention cord that had extra slots/plugs...it worked really well our last cruise...don't know how we managed without it. (charge video camera, used for hairdryer,etc...it was great)

We also bring something from home like a small framed photo of our family...or a small special pillow to place on a chair/bed or couch... just something from home we can put out...nothing big or complicated. It personalizes the cabin for us and we like the way we feel when we come into the cabin and see it.

Once on board the ship and get in your cabin head out and get aquainted with the ship.Get the little map they give you and go exploring before you set sail. I find it helps when you have to find something on board.Every night read your daily paper to find out what is on the next day and plan your day to what you want to see and do.
Try and take at least 1 excursion with the cruise line to get yourself familiar with what to see and do and when comfortable do things you like to do in a careful way(maybe with other couples) on your own
Enjoy the ship as there is always things going on.
The ship is your RESORT at sea.
Remember you are on ho;idays so relax and enjoy yourself.
Do what you want when you want.

I agree with the last post. Our first cruise was on the Explorer, we thought we'd never find our way around. We spent the first few hours on the ship visiting the spa and finding our way around. Then we went back to our stateroom and unpacked everything and put the suitcases under the bed and out of site. Before we knew it the huge ship became home. It is a resort at sea with so much to do and see. Another tip I have is to talk to as many people as you can about their expierences with cruising. It's fun to get tips from others. We asked everyone we met what cruise line they liked the best and what ports that preferred. Most we talked to loved RCI.

THE most important thing you need on your cruise is your PASSPORT. everything else you can purchase if necessary.
SUNSCREEN is very important as is Aloe Burn Gel. You must remember that you are closer to the equator in the Caribbean, the suns rays are much stronger and the relfection off the water magnifies those rays. Doesn't matter what skin color your are, you need sunscreen.
