Default Mariner of Seas cabin selection questions...

Well, I went ahead and booked my next adventure. I am already doing the Enchantment again in November but my annual "Take the kids when school is out cruise" is now booked. We are doing the Mariner on May 20th 2007. I thought I would go for the inside cabin as high as possible but nothing on deck ten and after looking at the price difference for an ocean view, decided to take the leap. Then to go from ocean view on deck 2 to deck 6 or 8 is a minimal difference and it goes from 161 SF to 211 SF.

Questions are:

1. Has anyone been in 6202 or 6502 on deck 6? They are forward facing with a slanted wall and a sofa bed instead of the pullmans.

2. Or 8214 or 8514 all the way forward on deck 8 with a side view?

Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks!! 8)

I am leaning towards the one on deck 6 right here in the middle overlooking the heli-pad. Anyone been in there?

I have been on the Mariner two times. stayed in rooms 6337 and 6375. Both are inside and both are awesome. 6337 is closer to the elevators. My parents went on the one in october of 2005 with me and they stayed down the hall in 6318 with a balcony, very good if your doing a family thing. Send me an email or IM if you need anymore information. Stayed in 6375 that room was too far from the elevator not to mention the drama I had to endure in that room...however I met a girl while staying in that room. Unfortunately we are now broken up. ha take care.

Thanks Stephen for the input. I am looking at the ocean view forward for the extra room and the view. Have done insides the last few times. Did larger ocean views on deck 9 on the Sovereign and it is nice to look out and see the weather and know when it is daytime.

I always remember the cabins where I got lucky fondly as well. The only drama I had was my one and only Carnival cruise when this girl wanted in my cabin and I wouldn't let her so she puked and passed out in the hall in front of my door. Security came and took her away.

Dave,
A bunch of really fun people from the Freedom Inaugural are doing the second Liberty sailing next May...I think it's the 26th, going eastern carib. It's soooo close in time-frame. Any chance you'd consider switching??

It would be a blast to cruise with you!

Tracy,

Thanks for invite! I will have to go and look at the rates. Sounds like a great idea. I compared the Western on the 20th to the Eastern on the 27 on the Mariner and it was several hundred more for the Eastern. In part I think to the date. More kids out of school. We get out earlier down here like May 16th.

I read that you had a great time on the freedom. It sounds like you may be able to keep up with Dave the Wave with your bar tab. Did you check out my photo galleries of the Enchantment?

Tracy,

I just checked. Inside Mariner $2300, inside Liberty $3500. I could go on another cruise for that difference. I do one in the fall by myself. That is when Dave the Wave really cuts lose. I am looking at ocean view Mariner 211 SF for $2700. Keep in mind that is for me and two kids. They are not chipping in. If I was cruising with a paying partner it would not be a problem.

Maybe 2008....

Now looking at 9518 and 9218. A friend is bringing his two kids as well. Question is do I want to look over the bow on deck 6, or to the side on 8 or 9? DO I want to be closer to the pool deck by being on deck 9 or closer to the Promenade (which I don't care of the mall concept) on deck 6? Any of these are a long walk to the Windjammer and Adventure Ocean.

The deck 9 cabin is first porthole forward of balconies below the bridge and has flat wall. The deck 8 is just below it and forward a little with curved wall. Any ideas?

Yes, it is. Yes, we will. I think I narrowed it down to the deck nine forward... 8)

Diamond Dave,..... I read on another website that the week you are booked a large (1,000) group of catholic nuns are onboard as part of their yearly retreat to renew their vows of chasity..

will this have any impact on your adventures ?

Maybe I will just try to get someone to go with me (that can pay their fare)

In the meanwhile, I better get to work so I can pay for this trip!

Stephen, you have been on Mariner twice. Are there still alot of single chics on the 7 night cruise? How is the Dragons Lair? If you are Diamond or Suite guest, and entitled to the Concierge Lounge, can your guest go in there as well? It seems you have to swipe your Sea Pass to get in. Is there an open bar all the time there?

I have heard that cruises taken as a monir will count towards your C&A status once you are 18. Is that the case? My kids will have 10 under there belt before they are 18. They have 6 now.

Yeah your kids are about to have the good life when they turn 18. I rode off my parents for a long time on these things. The concierge lounge is from 5-830 open bar. they have gotten stricter with you going in and getting your own beer because well I dont know(maybe it was because it was a crazy spring break cruise). I think the Mariner has a rep now of being a crazy party boat. They don't want it but it happens. SOmetimes the Dragon's lair will close at 2 like it did when I went in October and then sometimes like in March they are begging people to leave at 4AM. That was still the craziest cruise of my life. If you can imagine people from all over the country still in college on one ship together. Met my ex that week. Lots of singles. As I said before I think I have hooked up on every cruise I have ever been on. Mariner has been especially nice. take care and send me an IM or email if you dont see me on here for a while... stephenagorejr@yahoo.com tailg8r2005. Im going to do this site and cruisecritic.com

Dude! You were on the Regal Empress?? I was on the Regal Empress in December 2002. What a cool old ship!

I am excited about the Mariner trip. I usually manage to have a good time as well. With or without my kids. Everybody is there to have a blast, don't have to drive anywhere and there are always more single chics than guys. The odds are in our favor. The more they drink, the better I look.

I see the Concierge Lounge is on deck 9. How convenient! I am on deck 9 and can just go down the hall before and after dinner to take advantage!

In the meanwhile, I will start training for the upcoming Enchantment cruise soon.

Party on, Garth!
