Default Radisson in Port Canaveral

Does anyone know how close the Radisson is to the port? Could we walk to the ship from there? We are going on the Mariner next year, and included the air/hotel/transfers through RCCL, however think we could do it cheaper on our own. (I have free nights coming from the Radisson), and our hometown airlines has some pretty good deals flying into Orlando. The travel agent suggested we just add it now, and we can always cancel. Anyway, just wondering about any suggestions as well, as far as getting from Orlando to Port Canaveral if we do not use the transfers from RCCL.

Thanks.

we were just down there in that area, no you cant walk from the hotel but they offer a shuttle and you can leave your car at the hotel. I think you have to have a specail package price ..but it is not much extra. also there is a hotel message board on this site that will give you good info. We stayed at the hilton the day before right on the beach...then drove to the port. It was pricey..and not as great as the hampton inns we've stayed at.

We stayed at that Radisson 2 Summers ago and loved it. The room was great, the kids LOVED the pool, and the breakfast was delicious. I returned our car to Hertz in the morning and walked back to the hotel. They ran a free shuttle to the port. Other relatives left their car there for the week for free. Enjoy!

You will love the Radisson over there. We stayed there last year and have another room booked right before our cruise next month. The pool area is beautiful and very tropical. The port is not close enough to walk but they do offer a shuttle. If you cannot get in at the time you want to go as you have to make a reservation, they told me that taxi service to the port is no more then $10.

Well we have stayed at nearly every hotel in Port Canaveral and i have to say, the Radisson "Resort at the Port" is by far the nicest. It has a very nice pool, spa and tiki bar area for relaxing before your cruise vacation. You can't walk to the ship terminal but to give you an idea, with many ships like the Mariner and Glory, you can see your ship from the hotel when it is in port. The Radisson, does offer a free shuttle to the terminal, I however opt to take my car and pay the parking fee, which now includes free Valet parking for Carnival as many times, their ships come back into port at a different terminal than from which it left. Overall the Radisson is an amazing property and will make your vacation carefree as long as you take advantagof the services it offers. Any questions? IM, PM or E-mail me at Ryanspecialevent@msn.com

We probably wouldn't have a car, would probably find alternate transportation to the hotel from Orlando, however can you still then get the transfer back to the airport at the end of the cruise from RCCL, or do you have to buy roundtrip?

You can buy a one way transfer but do it before you get to your cruise. We tried to book a transfer onboard once and they wouldn't let us.

Orlando/Port Canaveral actually have very reasonable rental cars, about the same as the shuttle, but you ride in comfort with your honey, instead of in a bus. You can drive from the airport to the agency in Port Canaveral, maybe even touring Port Canaveral a little bit before turning it in, and they'll shuttle you over to the Radisson nearby.

The Radisson is amazing, with a great pool, a tiki hut pool bar, and evening buffets around the pool with great food some nights! I highly recommend the Radisson. It isn't at the port -- the name is misleading, and it isn't on a beach. They then provide free shuttle to the nearby port the morning of your cruise.

Make your rental car reservation for your return trip when you turn in your airport car, and the shuttle will pick you up right outside the ship when you step off. A short trip to the agency, and you're in a rental car to Orlando comfortably. Easy, easy!

And, while you're in Port Canaveral, a couple restaurants we loved is Durango's Steakhouse -- probably the best steak we've ever had -- and Florida's Seafood Bar & Grill!

Have a great cruise!

Thanks, that actually sounds much better than a stuffy bus. Do you mind me asking what rental car agency you went through? Or does it really matter are the drop offs all the same?
