Default Enchantment of the Seas.

Just wondering if any of you have done this ship. what shape is it in? and I fyou have done Mariner of the Seas how does it compare?

Does the Enchantment have a pay extra restuarant?

The Enchantment is a great ship and is "Ship Shape". I can't compare to the Mariner yet but will soon. It is one of my favorites, perfect size, intimate with a great crew. I am afraid the Mariner may be too big but I will see. There are none of the Sovereign or Vision class ships doing 7 night itineraires anymore from Florida except the Grandeur from Tampa in the Winter. Since the stretch, the Enchantment does have the specialty restaurant and the Concierge Lounge. I think you will love it.

you can even get a temporary tattoo now!

The difference is in the size. The Mariner OTS is a great ship, but it's pretty big, and just had too many people for my taste. It seemed like everywhere we went, we were waiting in a line. The Mariner has a great Royal Promenade (SP?) and all the little extras like the Johnny Rockets, the extra pay restaurants, the mini-golf, the extralarge Windjammer with the different food types, the ice rink and so on and so on were great, but everything was a line, and there was hardley ever a free deck chair.

I was on the Enchantment OTS before they cut her in two and added a new section to her, so I can't speak to that part. However, I will say that my cruise on the Enchantment was really great! Just the right amount of people, hardley ever waited in a line, clean and modern ship, great pool deck and lounges. The biggest difference is the cabin size, the Mariner OTS has larger cabins than the Enchatment and some better cabin ammenities.

I personally probably won't go bigger than the Vision class ships on RCI, unless there is a really great deal on a bigger ship.

I have been on the Mariner (January, 2005) and the Enchantment (May, 2006) and loved both ships. On Enchantment I absolutely loved the crew (yet on the Mariner I could not even tell you who the Cruise Director was). Carly was the Cruise Director on Enchantment and she was great, always visible, and always fun. I also loved the pool area on Enchantment. The band that played there every day was great and there always seemed to be activities going on. I also loved Boleros (a Latin club), the Disco, and Spotlight Theatre on Enchantment. They always seemed to be hopping with something going on (70s night where the crew dressed up like the Village People, Latin Dance lessons, Quest, Rockaroke, etc.) On the Mariner I enjoyed the mall (especially the Pub), the parades, the Ice Show, and just thought it had the most beautiful dining room. As for shows, I would give Enchantment the edge. But Mariner (hands down) had a much nicer casino. Actually if I could combine these two ships, that would be the perfect ship for me.

Heidi you answered my question. I think I will like the Enchantent. The Mariner of the Seas was just too crowded and although I enjoyed the Ice show, thought the promanade was a great idea and even played a round of minature golf, I felt the ship was WAY too crowded , pools were super crowded on sea days, so was the Windjammer and at night you could not move on the promande for wall to wall people.

How many PAX does the Enchantment hold? That was the biggest problem with MOS, we had 3600 on board.

I believe the Enchantment of the Seas holds around 2400-2500 passengers and about 900 crew and staff.

Dave the Wave, I was on the May 8th (5 day) to Belize, Cozumel, and Key West. I remembered a pix you put on here showing the pool deck of Enchantment (compared to a Carnival) and you were right. Enchantment won hands down (I have been on Carnival Fantasy for comparison). And not since Song of America do I remember so much activity and fun around the pool deck area (and again the pool band was great but I think May 8th was their last week on Enchantment so you may have had a different group). Anyway, nice ship, great crew.

And momofmeg, I can't lie, the pool area and Windjammer did get a little crowded on the sea day but was fun regardless.

Heidi,

Funny you should mention that. My first RCI cruise was on the Song of America. My honeymoon in Dec 1990. I still have the cabin card. They were handwritten back then. I love their pool decks.

We did the same 5 nighter on the 22nd of May this year.

Heidi I expect that somewhat on a full ship-my problem with MOS was even though they had all the other stuff-no one was interested in anything but vegging by the pool! Even the adult's only area was super crowded. So I would rather be on a ship that does not have the "extra" stuff. MOS's pools were small and I assume that was because they expected PAX to be doing lot s of other stuff! You should have seen that sof serve icecream line of the sea day-it ws a good 30-45 minutes to get some ice cream!

I guess I am just not a fan of voyager class ships.

GF and I went on the 5 day on May 27.. the day you got off with the boys. We had the greatest trip on the Enchantment of any cruise we've taken.

On the last night we sat and had a couple of drinks with CD Carly and Hotel Manager Adrianna in Boleros. Had I thought of it I should have brought up your name as someone I knew from this message board.

Yes, Michael. Carly won't soon forget me. And I will be back in a few months. Hope she is still onboard so I can throw her in the pool again... of course the Quest game was fun as well.

No, Freedom for me yet, Stephen. That was the Enchantment of the Seas. I have my next two cruise booked already so the next one for me will be in the fall of 2007 after these two. I am looking forward to the Mariner of the Seas. It will be my first Voyager class ship.

Because I am taking two kids that are not chipping in and it is a lot more money!!! If I had a partner who was paying her way, then I would go on the Liberty.

Roland,
I already tried that route with DtW. We have a GREAT crowd, doing the first two weeks of LB on a B2B, and I suggested he join us. The math didn't work in his favor though...which is understandable when one has kids.

Now...how about YOU? Oh right, I tried that already too!

Tracy, if you are doing a B2B then your second week is the same week I am on the Mariner. If I see some favorable rates, the sun and moon are aligned properly and I have the winning lottery ticket, then I will join you guys on the Liberty.

Dave,
I'm actually trying to get an official group together for week two. That way, I can make the second week more affordable for me...one comp fare for every 16 people (8 cabins). The problem with week two is that the 3rd/4th fare is almost $900pp, when it is normally half that. I think that's because it's Memorial Week. For that money, you can almost book extra people in their own cabins!

Will keep you posted for sure, and if *I* win the lottery, I'll cover the delta for you and your boys to join us. Of course, that means I need to actually start buying tickets!

Sounds like a good idea. I can go on two cruises for what that one will cost. I can wait. I'll do the Mariner first so we have something to look forward to. I actually prefer the Sovereign or Enchantment size but will see what I think about the Mariner and then see about Freedom class the next year. As I said in an earlier post, I want to do a 7 nighter and choices are limited to Voyager class from Florida.

SAGJr, Comparing the MA with the SS is like comparing melons with cherries. However, both have their charm but are very different.

The Sovereign is a classic. I have been onboard 5 times and will go back. I have had my best cruise ever aboard that ship. No, it doesn't have the indoor promenade or ice rink. I am not crazy about the indoor prom anyway. I want to be at sea not at the mall. But it has a great pooldeck, good Schooner bar and the Viking Crown Lounge rocks! The avitar of me here is on the Sovereign right after winning the bronze medal in the belly flop.

Stephen, that was my first cruise single again and I hooked up with a hottie (single young mom) at the sailaway party the first afternoon. We spent most of the cruise together. I have been chasing that dream ever since. You will have a great time! The shorter cruises always have a good party crowd. Make sure and do the 4 nighter!

Have you thought of doing Jewel of the Seas? She is in FL between Nov. and April I think. They say she is really classy and much nicer then the voyager class.

I also found we could do a 6 night on Radience of the Seas for about the same price of the 5 night Enchantment around the same time too.
