Chefs tour
We are planning on a SOS cruise in August.
I read a message that someone was given a tour of the kitchen/chef's facilities. How does one arrange this? Also, are there special arrangements to tour the engine rooms, etc. My husband is an instrumentation/electrician and is interested in this. This will be our second cruise aboard the SOS, we are anxious to see the new refurbishments. Thanks, Vicway |
Chance are very good that you will not be able to arrange these tours. I was recently on a RCCL ship with a rep from RCCL. She had a galley tour planned for us and it was canceled because of security reasons. She was told they do not do them any more since 9/11.

Carnival still gives a kitchen/galley tour, but I don't think RCL does. Nearly all the ships used to give an engine room tour, but since 9/11 I don't know of a single line that allows access to these areas. It's a shame, because it's an amazing tour!
You'll enjoy the cruise anyway, and if you're lucky, you're husband might be able to corner one of the engineers aboard, and talk to him about the "inner workings" of these great ships. It's fascinating! Ken |
