We are booked on the Explorer of the Seas. We have a family of 12 and have already been assigned cabins. I don't know if I asked when I booked, for smokefree cabins. Can you tell me if all cabins are smoke-free? Our cabins are 7600, 7514, 7516, and 7214. Can you tell me if these are smoke free? Thanks, awaiting your reply.

I'm afraid there are NO non smoking cabins on Royal Caribbean.. or the other mass market lines.
Disney and Oceania have very restrictive smoking policies.
On my cruise on RCI's Jewel of the Seas this winter I did notice many more totally smoke free areas, and lounges. Not sure if this is a fleet wide policy change.
If you are a non-smoker and prefer not to be around those who smoke, book a cruise on Carnival's Paradise, the world's first and only completely smoke-free ship.
This ship has not been smoke-free in YEARS. Carnival found it was not profitable - guess smokers tend to drink and gamble a lot more than non-smokers.
People can smoke in cabins... and in selected areas of ship. In all my cruises... I never noticed a "smokers" smell in any of my cabins... probably because people don't spend much time in cabin. On most of the RCL fleet... smokers can light up on any open deck on the starboard side....which is pretty much the pool deck. The casino is also a smoking area and a few lounges have segregated smoking sections. Dining rooms, windjammer are all smoke free. Cannot say that smoke from smokers has ever bothered me while on board.
There are NO smoke free cabins, and sometimes you WILL smell left over smoke from the previous passengers. This happened to us on a recent cruise. Yes, it is the exception rather than the rule...but it CAN and DOES happen.
We were on the Explorer over Thanksgiving and my father's cabin smelled terribly of smoke the entire cruise and he or his cabin mate don't smoke.
We are bringing febreeze with us next month, just in case
Even my dad's clothes faintly smelled of smoke.
it was pretty disgusting.
Did your father tell his room steward about the smoke smell? They have a spray that will eliminate the smell (it's stronger than Febreeze). They'll also change the bedding if you ask.
Hope you have a great cruise next month!

Had the same problem...only worst on our cruise to Alaska. Nothing helped, not spray...not washing down the walls NOTHING...they had to move us to another cabin.
Interestingly...while we were moving our clothes and luggage out of our cabin, we met another passenger moving his luggage out too. He and his wife were being driven out of their cabin because it reaked of cigar smoke.
Keep in mind that people who are allergic to smoke are usually allergic to sprays which mask the cigar/cigarette smoke.
I recently used Tide with Febreze in it and had to rewash all the clothes because it caused severe breathing problems for me.
All sprays are nothing more than chemicals which are also bad for your lungs. Allergic people are the first to be affected by them; however, they are harmful for anyone's lungs. A Doctor once wrote that anything you can smell is getting into your lungs and bronchial tubes.
I would hope that smokers would not smoke in the cabins but do it elsewhere if for no other reason than it contaminates their own environment getting into their clothes, etc.
I see many smokers today smoking outside their own homes and cars which is a sensible idea.
