Default concierge club

We just turned diamond members and will be able to use the concierge club on our next cruise in may and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they check cards once in the room? i know they give us a special card to enter. The reason I am asking is we will be traveling with some friends and it will be their first cruise, my husband and I would like to enjoy this new perk before dinner but dont want to leave our friends by themselves. We will be on the Serenade of the Seas. thanks for any info.

Unfortunately for folks travelling with friends who are not Diamond Members, they cannot enjoy the Concierge Lounge. While I don't think anyone actually verifies card possesion inside, there aren't many folks inside. So you get to talking with people and are often asked about previous cruises. If you haven't met the criteria, it could be embarrasing to you and your friends.

I think it keeps the integrity of the lounge as a geniune perk for those Members who have met the criteria. Have a good cruise.

On the contrary, there could be lots of people (too many) in the lounge on an Alaska cruise. It is not unusual that a secondary lounge (up in VC) must open to handle the overflow

Good point Roland, we haven't done Alaska yet so I don't have any experience with that itinerary. Go figure---we live 60 minutes from Seattle, yet it's less expensive for us to fly to Miami, book a pre-cruise hotel and take a 7-day Caribbean on the same ship that we could sail to Alaska

What you say makes sense though, with the cooler weather and higher likelihood of repeat passengers on board. The more the merrier in the Concierge Lounge!

Take care, Steve

Well Steve, Not only on the Alaska cruises, but almost anywhere. I have similar experiences from Hawaii, Mediterranean, New England, Northern Europe, Panama Canal, Transatlantic and even Caribbean cruises when the CC was more than crowded and I know the Concierges were absolutely not merry
It should perhaps be added, that the crowds are more likely to appear on the Radiance class vessels, with more Diamonds and Diamond +´s cruising on these ships.
I am glad that my lobbying with MIA at least has resulted in the Diamond Club on the FR and her sisters to be 8)

Default we were in the same situation

on my last cruise one of our group memebers had an owners suiet and were allowed in the CC and they, after asking the Concierge, were allowed to have the other 3 couples in our group come in with them, so just ask the person, it cant hurt

As you write "so just ask the person,..." It depends a lot on who is Concierge. However, you were in fact not in exactely the same situation as one of your group members had an OS and the CC is primarily intended for suite guests (not for Diamonds).

Just off R/T Hawaii on the "Radiance" and "CC" was available for use by suite guests, "Diamond & Diamond Plus" guests EXCEPT during cocktail hours (1700-2030). During those hours the Diamond groups were directed a club upstairs to enjoy their cocktails. It is a great perk but one that does need to be fine tuned since there are SO many "Diamond" members.

Thanks Robbie H,
That´s my experience as well. And also right. Suite guests should always have access to CC, since it was intended for them.

thanks so much for all the replies. we will just see how it goes and how busy it is to see if its even worth using. But would defiently ask before doing something wrong or that would upset someone.

Kind of like elite level membership in airline frequent flyer programs. Sometimes it seems like 1/2 the passengers have some status or another.
