We were on AOS January 2006 and stopped in Curacao -- but that was after being in Aruba until 1am! A little "under the weather" for Curacao so we got off the ship briefly to do some shopping and that was it. So -- really -- this reply is no help whatsoever to you! Other than a little advice -- leave earlier from Carlos & Charlies in Aruba than what we did!!!
Hi there! Can't help either but just curious what sailing in Feb.?? We will be on the AOS Feb. 25!! We haven't decided what to do in any of the ports yet. That is what I am working on now. We are staying in SJ 3 days prior to the cruise also so looking forward to that. Hope you're on our sailing!!!!

I was just on that cruise Oct 29 week at that port we rented a car and explored the island. Take the bridge across to the shops from the dock. There are great snorkling beaches almost on the northern end of the island I willl look up the name and get back to you on that one.
We are leaving Feb 4 and are in the process of planning excursions also. EWould love to hear any feedback. Is Carlos and Charlies close to anything else in Aruba?

Cruising in 34 days!
I am on BOTH of those sailings - February 25th and March 4th - we are doing a B2B!
I have also been to Curacao a few times and mostly just spend the day shopping.....I am not a big fan of the beaches as they are not soft and sandy, so you would need water shoes for sure!
We took a tour to Playa PortoMari (spelling?)
It was beautiful.

If you'd like snorkelling, take the Arubus ($1.00pp each way) to Malmok Beach. It's just before the California Lighthouse. As another poster said, it's not really a "beach". It's hard coral and not much sand. We didn't snorkel from Malmok, but our dive excursion took us to a wreck just off Malmok where the fish and snorkelling were great. I can only assume that if you got in the water at Malmok and swam out a bit, you'd find great snorkelling.
I am going to Curacao in March on AOS and will be doing the dolphin encounter at the Sea Aquariam. The tour is offered thru the cruise line. I have heard that RCCL has booked all the spots for the day for their passengers. I have also read that the beach at the Sea Aquariam is one of the nicest sand beaches on Curacao.
After returning to the ship I will be doing a walking tour on my own.
