Default Where does the Rhapsody of the Seas go after leaving HI

next fall - 2007? It seems like a gap exists in her schedule in terms of getting to Sydney. Is RCI planning on performing maintenance during this trip segment? Something else?

The Rhapsody of the Seas turns 10 in 2007, and it will be out of service for awhile for a face lift.

It seems like an interesting choice of location for the project - transit from HI to Oz. Perhaps it is just a heavy "spring cleaning" and the crew does the work itself. It would seem that anything more would be done in a yard or at least in port.

Here is the scoop ...

- She goes into drydock 02.07

- Royal Caribbean’s Rhapsody of the Seas, sailing September 28, October 15 and November 24, 2007, have been chartered by Cruiseco, a consortium of more than 120 cruise specialist travel agencies in Australia. On Sept. 28, Rhapsody departs Honolulu for Sydney on a 16-night sailing, stopping in Maui, Hawaii, before she visits the distinctive and captivating island destinations of Papeete, Moorea, and Bora Bora, French Polynesia; as well as Lautoka in the Fiji Islands.

- On 10.27.07 and on 11.10.07 she begins regular cruises again from Sydney. Then there is a break for the 11.24.07 charter cruise.

Thanks Irish Shark! Do you or anyone else know how common this type of chartering of an RCI ship this is?

I don't think it all that common especially for three cruises. That must be some bill.

I looked at the cruiseco website. It points you to any number of travel agencies in Australia. I am sure anyone could book these trips by contacting one of these travel agents directly. RCI is probably doing this to help promote their brand in Australia against Carnival Corp which I bet has a more established presence in the market through P&O Australia and Princess.

Just got back on Sunday from Rhapsody. We asked someone at the Purser's Desk about the dry dock situation. They will only be in dry dock for 8 days. Crew stays onboard and helps out with the facelift. The major change will be to Windjammer. She couldn't really say what was changing but it needs a change. There are too many ramps/mini-steps in there and people kept stumbling around. The bedding will be updated as on the rest of the RC line. She didn't have other info but also noted that carpeting / painting etc were also included in the work.
