What is the age of the teen? RCCL has different programs for different ages.

Our granddaughter has been with us on 2 RCI ships, Mariner and
Freedom, She was 13 on the Freedom last summer and as on the
Mariner had a super time in the teen program. They hang out at the
Living Room and one other place I can't seem to remember. It's
a way for them to meet new friends their own age immediately and
the fun begins. On the Freedom, one evening, they even turned
the Crypt (nightclub) over to the teens and they thought it was
super cool.

We take her on cruises so we can have her all to ourselves for 7
days, except she spends more time with newly made friends than
with us...that's OK, tho, as she loves it and still wants to cruise w/us.
We do shore excursions together.

Whether your teen is in the 12-14 group or the 15-17 group they will have a blast! I am 17 and was on the Mariner last month. There is so much to do that they will never be bored. The teen only areas on the Voyager and Freedom classes are Fuel (the nightclub), the Living Room and the Back Deck. They always have fun activities planned as well as some down time to chill with your new friends.
