The Crypt was really different from the first week I went on Freedom (June 2006) to the second (just last month). I attribute this to the change in drinking age from 18 (with waiver) to 21.
The first week, I felt like an old fart who stumbled into a scene from Dirty Dancing XXX. I am 40, but consider myself open-minded and hip. The scene in there was downright whacked!!! If only these teens' parents were watching...they'd have DIED!
Last month it was much more disco-ish, with people having lots of fun actually *dancing*, versus the teenagers grinding in threesomes who were the majority six months earlier.
They have a DJ in there, who mixes things up pretty well. Very diverse, clubby, dance mixes...old standards and new tunes too.
I have never gone into the Crypt until the wee hours, but my guess is that it gets going after late-seating, or the last show, whichever comes last.
It is very aptly named, as it is very dark in there and decorated in a very Goth-like style. It's very cool, actually. Methinks you will probably enjoy it.
If not, there is Boleros, where there is bound to be some sexy salsa dancing; Olive or Twist for jazz music and old-standards dancing; Schooner Bar for piano sing-along and dancing; and the Bull and Bear for guitar-type music. Seriously, there is something for just about everyone!
