Default Bermuda Cruise

Can anyone help in recommending a hotel in Philadelphia close to the port? I have called several that I found on Hotels.com and boy are they pricey. Don't mind paying for a good one but don't want to get ripped off either. We leave on Sept. 22. Anyone been on the Empress of the Seas?

Any help will be appreciated.

I have not been on the Empress but I do know it is a smaller ship. As Philadelphia is a major city, the hotels will run high. I suggest you call the Philadelphia Chamber Of Commerce as Chambers are usually a very reliable source of info for travelers and can recommend several options that they've had personal experience with. I have done the Bermuda cruise on the Explorer out of Bayonne NJ last you and it was wonderful. We loved the ship and Bermuda and will be returning this June on our way to the Caribbean. If you were leaving out of Bayonne, the Newark Best Western is a very popular hotel for cruise passengers for Bayonne as it offers a stay and cruise package for 155.00 plus tax for 2 people and includes free breakfast and shuttle to and from airport AND to and from the cruise port. You can check to see if there is a Best Western near the Philly port that offers the same type of package.

Thanks for the tip. There is a Best Western in downtown and I will call them and see what they offer.

We're sailing on Empress out of Philly as well, but not until October. We just returned from our Serenade cruise so now I'm beginning to check on hotels in Philly. It looks like you may be able to get some decent deals through priceline, but I think it's a little early for us to try yet. I'm going to keep checking on the web, and if I find any great deals, I'll post for you.

There has been a lot of talk on another cruise website that the Empress was sold and will be replaced with another ship. You may want to just watch for news of that about the Empress. RCCL bought another cruiseline and they got rid of the Celebrity Zenith and replaced it with another ship from the fleet they bought called the Journey. RCCL also owns Celebrity so it seems they are moving some ships around.

Interesting... Maybe we will get lucky and they will cancel this cruise and we will get a better one for the same price. That happened a few years ago. A 7day Western Caribbean turned into a 10day Ultimate Western for about $600.00. That was on Celebrity.

I don't think your cruise will get canceled but you may get another ship. That's what they've done with Celebrity with people booked on the Zenith they now get the Journey instead.
