Balcony Doors
If we get balcony rooms next to one another on the Mariner, can the balcony connecting doors be opened?

Yes, but not by you

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It depends on the ship and the steward. However IF they are are willing to open the dividers it must be done by your cabin steward. It never hurts to ask when onboard!

What about ajoining rooms, do you think they would open them if you had adjoining rooms? My mom and her friend are going with us, and they do not want to stay in the same room, but we reserved them the rooms that adjoin. It would be nice if they could then get one big balcony between them.

That would be fun, especially ordering room service. You can have a little party on the balcony, let us know if you can do this.

Not sure on Mariner, but on Navigator we noticed some "tri-lobe" screws on the balcony doors that I would assume are able to be opened by a special tool.

Our steward on the Mariner claimed he had to speak to "maintenance" to see if the baloncy partitions could be removed. I swear you would have thought we were the first people on the face of the earth to ask for this to be done. After days of wondering and not having the partition taken out....our steward mumbled that it's impossible to remove them. Interesting since there are bolts and such on each partition.

I don“t have a problem, but some cabin stewards have

I think it would be nice if you booked adjoining rooms, you could have adjoining cabins. My mom and her friend have adjoining rooms on our cruise in December on the Mariner. I would be nice if they opened the balcony so they could have one big balcony. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
