Default Free trolley in Old San Juan

Has anyone used the free trolley in Old San Juan? I understand that there are two different trolley routes--both routes end up at the Pier.

Do you know how long the loop ride takes? Is it faster to walk? I want to visit El Morro the day of my sailing. My flight arrives at 1PM and then need time to check in for the cruise. I understand that El Morro closes at 5PM. I think I have enough time if I take the trolley?

Has anyone had any good or bad experience taking the trolley?

Hi WT,we have taken the trolley on many occasions. You get it to the left of Pier 4.If you are coming out of PamAm you will have to take a cab over there.
The whole loop takes about a half hour but you can get on and off where you want.
If you want to take another tour also to the left of Pier 4 is the ferry dock, you can take a ferry over to the other side of the harbor then a short bus trip to the Bacardi rum factory. The tour is free.We have not taken this one but will the next time in SJ.

Just curious ... How do you intend to handle the luggage on the trolley?

It sounds like you want to do this before you get to the ship.

I was planning on checking into AOS, having a quick bite to eat and than taking the trolley from the pier to El Morro. I know that the site closes at 5PM. The luggage would be on the ship.

The two trolleys leave from different sites at the pier and loop around so that you can hop on and hop off when ever you want. You can flag them down or wait at one of the yellow prada signs.

I understand the city it hilly and I didn't want to have to walk up to El Morro. I don't mind walk back down from the site.

Default How far is the Pan Am Pier from Pier 4

The maps that I have only show piers 1-4. Does anyone know how long of a walk it is from pier 4 to the Pan AM pier?

The price if I remember was $10 each way. There are usually other people on the dock that may want to share a ride.If you have never been to OSJ it is worth the trip.
