dtw has started a trend for sure, - I have never seen so many coolers being taken on a cruise before, some bigger than daves, with a handle and wheels and they just let them right on board; didn't even open the things; just lifted them on the xray machine belt. I peeked at the screen for one of the coolers and the alchol must have been in their other luggage cause all I saw was clothing, radio and what appeared to be sunscreen - a lot of people were mixing their own drinks and bringing their own buckets of beer from their rooms....

Proper cruise etiquette dictates that when at the pool, buy your drinks at the bar. I do bring some onboard with me but for cabin consumption. Carrying one of those big mugs from the gas station out to the pool is in poor taste. If you do bring a beer from the cabin to the pool, it should be of the same variety that is sold at the bar. You don't come out the the pool carying a 16 OZ Natural Ice!

MSBJ, my cooler has a strap and is narrow 6 inches, I put my camera stuff, docs, wallet, birth certs, ect... to carry on board. Beers and booze go in my luggage.

I bought this bottle of Vodka in the shop onboard when they used to let you take it to your cabin.

I think I have found my spot by the pool...starboard, equadistant between pool bar and stage, close enough if I trip and fall I will land in the pool.

I seen on your March 5th reply, that you mentioned Yakov Smirnoff. (I did see the bottle.)

Just in case you do not know, there IS a Yakov Smirnoff, that has his show in Branson, Missouri, and he is VERY funny, and doesn't have to drink to make us laugh. (My lake home is not to far from there.)

I think it changed sometime last year. I had always done it in the past. I have heard of some still doing it. Perhaps it depends on who is in the shop at the time. I will try it again next time and see what happens. When I did my one Carnival cruise it was a firm no. RCI followed suit after, in part, the George Smith incident. At least that is what I have heard. They tightened up their alcohol policies with the bad publicity. Used to be you could drink beer and wine at 18 when in international waters, then you had to have parents permission, now you have to be 21 regardless. A few people get wasted and fall overboard and ruin it for us responsible drinkers.

I was wearing a grass skirt and had nowhere to put my stuff. Where was I supposed to put my phone? That was a Halloween party. The hippie was the host and I was in charge of keeping the punch bowl full and keeping the dry ice in it.

When I am not cruising or at Halloween parties, I also enjoy attending football games.

When not cruising I enjoy day trips aboard the "Minnow of the Seas" while having cocktails and seeing the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. Note the faded RCI hat from belly flop contest.
