Default Royal Caribean press release - brand new cruise line launch

hello my fellow cruisers,

So who else has heard the Royal Caribbean cruise line news? Anyone as excited as me? I received an email last week saying they launch two new ships, to add to the freedom class of ships. One of which “independence of the sea’s? will be launching from our very own Southampton in May 2008. May seem a little far away to be making plans now but cabins can be booked from the 14th of this month! Just imagine a brand new cruise ship, with ice rink, rock climbing, boxing ring, inline skating and onboard surfing! I can hardly wait! Hopefully see some of you on board the independence of the sea soon! Woohoo!

Jess

oh heres the link to RCI news, so you can have a read for yourself, hope to see you all one board! http://www.royalcaribbean.co.uk/php/....php?pageid=65

One thing to remember about a maiden voyage-along with the uniqueness of the cruise and a one time experience, some things just are not as smooth running as they should be. However it's worth the risk to be on the first cruise of such a ground breaking vessel.

That is great news about Independence OTS and the European itineraries for '08.

Donna: according to RCI News:
Quote:
The highly anticipated Independence of the Seas will embark on her maiden voyage in mid-May 2008, offering 14-night Western Mediterranean sailings from Southampton, England to the Spanish, French and Italian Riviera. Independence also offers travelers four voyages to the Canary Islands on ten- and 11-night itineraries
. Cool huh?

I'm thinking Europe is in my future...Steve

I'm confused by this title because I don't see anything in the press release indicating that the company is starting a new cruise line. Rather, it appears that the new ship will join the "Royal Caribbean International" fleet.

Do you know something that the rest of us don't?

BTW, I have long thought that the company would do well to split off a few ships to start a new line on which dress would be "casual" every evening. When I saw your title, I wondered if that might have been happening....

The above link was a press release for the U.K. but tomorrow, March 14th IS the announced release date for 2008 Europe and Europe cruisetours!

The OP linked to the company's British web site, but there's a very similar press release on the parent company's investor web site here in the States.
