Default ? re: towels

Another newbie question...
I know they have towels on the ship for the pool
But, what do you do for the beach on excursions?

Hi Patsfan,
Yes, you can take the pool towels with you to the beach or an excursion, just be sure to return it to your cabin so you can get clean ones for the next day. Also, any missing towels, they will charge you for, but sure saves space in the luggage by using the ones they provide.

Your cabin steward will provide you with beach towels just for this purpose. Like Donna said, you must bring these back to the ship or you'll be charged for them. You have two choices: take the damp sandy towels back to your cabin and put them in your bathroom for the cabin steward to pick up later; OR go directly up to the pool deck and exchange them for clean ones. Take these back to your cabin for later use.

May be a dumb question, but how do they keep track of the towels if you are bringing them to the pool and to your cabin and on excursions...
How do they know who to charge for missing towels?

Hi Pat,
If you do exchange towels by the pool, you'll give them your wet ones in exchange for dry ones. If you just keep the same towels all day, just return to your cabin and your cabin attandant will leave clean ones for the next day.

Typically on RCI, you will be provided one pool towel per person in your cabin by your cabin steward. You'll find them on your bed when you first board the ship. You either leave these when dirty in your bathroom for your cabin steward to exchange for clean ones when your room is made up; OR you exchange them up on the pool deck in the designated spot at the staffed pool towel exchange station. Now here's how they know who to charge these to: they will ask for and record your name and cabin number. It's not foolproof, but it does encourage you to be responsible for your pool towels.

Hope this answers your question, and BTW, it wasn't dumb. It didn't used to be this way, but too many people either forgot their pool towels on shore, or they grew little legs and jumped into their suitcases

Just remember, you can exchange dirty for clean as often as you like.

Take care, Steve

Your stateroom will have two beach towel located beneath the sink. The will be replaced each night if you leave them on the floor. You can also get beach towels at the pool. You have to check them in and out. There were a couple days where they had run out of beach towel and were expecting dry towels in an hours time.

You may want to pack your own beach towel if you like a large towel.

Another reason to pack a beach towel is so that you can wrap it around any liquor bottles you plan on bring back. If you buy liquor in the ports you won't be able to bring it on the plane--it will have to be sent in your luggage because it is a liquid. At the baggage claim area alot of bags were wet from broken liquor bottles. I would suggest bringing two gallon zip lock bags and putting each bottle in tow bags and then wrapping the beach towel around the bottle as a cushion.
