Default Pools on RCI ships...

Are they fresh water? Salt water?? I was reading another forum about Princess being the only line with "fresh water" pools. Does that mean Royal Carib. has salt water pools?

I am just curious, and want to know what to expect in 9 days when I board the Mariner with my family!

Thanks.
Karen

Hi Karen,
Yes, Mariner will have salt water pools. So far, only the "Freedom" class of Royal Caribbean have fresh water, which is a wonderful change. They will have some showers right by the pool you can rinse the salt water off you.

Thanks!
It seems odd to me though, there would be no chlorine in the pool? How can they keep them clean with so many people using them?
Please forgive me, I am a nurse practitioner, always thinking about health!

Even though it is saltwater, they do treat and filter the water. They drain and replace it often also.

Tell about your trip when you get back. I will be on the Mariner next month. You may as well warn them now that Dave the Wave and his entourage is coming.

It's kind of odd but actually the salt water pools tend to stay clearer, longer. They're not that bad actually. And, you float better which is nice to lay on your back and enjoy the sun. The fresh water pools on the Freedom tended to get a bit murky late in the day, probably from sunscreen oils. Most ships, Mariner included, drain and clean their pools daily or every other day at the most.

Tell us what you think when you get back 8)

Thanks everyone!
And Dave, I will certainly warn them about you (I've read some of your posts! I'm just mad that you won't be on OUR ship!).
Now, I need this week to go by fast!!!
