Default Freedom of the Seas/Liberty of the Seas

I am new to this and am planning a vacation with my family on the Liberty of the seas. I understand the deck plan is almost the same as the freedom so I would appreciate help with picking rooms. I am booking an oceanfront balcony for my husband and I and a promenade inside room across from our room for my children. I was hoping I could get some advice with respect to what part of the ship would be the best and since I am taking a promenade room for my kids it would have to be on decks 6, 7 or 8. Are we better off mid ship, toward the front, and are we better off on deck 6, 7 or 8? Also, if you have specific room numbers that were in a great location, that information would be appreciated as well. Finally are we better off by the elevators or not. My children will be 11 and 16 during the trip. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

The usual rule of thumb for cabins is as close to midships as possible and the lowest deck available. Using this guide that would mean deck 6 as close to the middle of the ship as you can get. However these modern ships with their computerized stabilizers and other modern high tech make movement at sea very minimal. Near the elevators are a convenience, and most do not add a great amount of noise to the night time cruising experience.

I love the Promenade rooms, have stayed in 7611 on the Freedom and liked it so much that we booked 7611 on the Liberty 10-13-07.

I've never heard of this Ben and Jerry's room, what is that all about. Is it anything different/special?

For this massive vessel, unless you're in really rough seas, you won't notice much motion. That said, midship is probably best for least amount of pitching for and aft. I would look at Deck 6 for the Promenade rooms views out and down onto the Royal Promenade. You're only one deck above the views below, a great spot for people watching, or viewing one of the parades if you don't want to be part of the pack of people standing along side.

Check out the deck plans: avoid the forward or aft block of Promenade cabins. The reason is these give an end view and don't put your kids right in the action, which is probably what they'll want.

As for elevators, you'll find you use the stairs more than the elevators. By choosing a cabin near the middle, you're split between forward or aft stairs depending on where you're headed. Either way, you'll be fine.

Good luck and good choice you're making. Steve
