Default CocoCay Question - StingRays

For the folks that have been there, are there stingrays just swimming around? Or is it a 50/50 shot they might be around?

I've swam with them before, but want to get some more water photo's of them. Don't worry, well aware they are wild creatures.

Anything else there worth a underwater camera to take photo's of?

You could see some sting rays, I know they are sometimes in the area. Last time I was there, others saw some, I didn't. There are still plenty of fish and they feed them, so look for people in a row boat out there feeding fish and bring the camera.

Thanks Donna!! I went over to Webshots & looked at the photo's folks posted over there for CocoCay. The airplane & the shipwreck(?) look like something that needs to be explored. :-)

Yes, thats the area you need to check out. They had the airplane and sunken boat way back when I was there. Good fish there and thats the place where they will feed them.

You can get some really good pics of fish just a few feet from the shore! Also, swim around those rocks there at the shore and you can get a lot of fish pics. My daughter loved taking the underwater pics and I didnt have to worry because she was just in waist deep water.

What should we do in Coco Cay? I have never been before. Is it similiar to Labadee. Do I have to rent anything? Is there a good part of the beach and a not so good area like in Labadee? Where is the airplane and sunken ship located? Do we have to rent snorkel equipment?

Yes, very much like Labadee, only smaller. You can do different excursions, there is a wave runner excursion thats a lot of fun, banana boat rides, parasailing, etc. Nice island to take a walk around, have a BBQ lunch and just relax.

We saw stingrays snorkeling at Coco Cay a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately my camera wasn't working so no pictures. Lots of other fish as well.
