good day to all,
we decided to do caribbean cruise for the first time (I & my wife & my little son 3 years old ), could u pls. help what to choose ... eastren or westren.. our ship will be either freedom of the seas or Liberty of the seas
& what month is most suitable ( keep in mind low Cost, not crowded, best weather )
In my opinion, I would opt for the Eastern Caribbean. I'm assuming since you have young one with you, for activities, you will be looking for either shopping or beaches/resorts for the day. The eastern has the prettier water and nicer beaches, in my opinion.
Regarding time of year, try late October or early to mid-November. Either that or late April to early May. Try to stay away from holidays, summer, and Spring Break. Prices will jump up during those times. Good luck! Planning is so much a part of the fun.

We have done both Eastern and Western on several occasions. If you want calmer waters, warm weather and plenty of sunny days, you cannot beat the Western. If the ship stops in Cozumel, you will find plenty of shopping.

Out of East, West and South my favorite is West. We will be doing West again next week (5th year in a row doing same route). Love the beach at Grand Caymen and labadee love the shopping in cozumel. We like to cruise last week in April not as many kids as summer and holidays. Just the kids that are skipping school for a week will be on the ship. (like mine)
Also cruised in January and that was great too.
Although no matter what route you take you will have a good time as they are really all nice.
For a first timer it is either/or as far as East or West. Another good time to cruise is early December during which time cruise prices are lowest. My personal favorite area of the Caribbean is South, but to do a true Southern Caribbean cruise you will have to start out from San Juan, Puerto Rico which will increase your total cost (unless you luck into a flight like I did two years ago in late Jan - $69 from JFK to San Juan).
