My wife and I cruised Explorer for a seven day cruise. The food was fine. You get a lot of it. Both the dining room and windjammer cafe r the main areas for dining. You will have a wonderful time and enjoy the food.
Cheers,

Anyone know where you can view the menus from this cruise? All the ones I've found online are barely readable.

April, 2006. Caribbean.
The Pizza and Sandwiches on the Promenade were great for lunch. Although I didn't eat at the Midnight Buffet, it sure looked good and beautiful. You really shouldn't miss the huge Midnight Buffet that they showcase(I think it was the second to last night). Remember to take your camera. The ice, fruit, and chocolate sculptures were amazing. Truly works of art. They let you view it before they let everyone eat it. Again, I didn't eat any of it. You just wouldn't believe the amount of people who line-up to check it out.

As for the Traditional Dining, I thought it was good, not great. To their credit, they serve a lot of people all at the same time. My food was never piping hot. Then again, there are very few places that happens. Our service was great. My DH thought the food was great, but what does he know? I guess it is great compared to his normal fare.

Default Yummy!

We loved the food on the Explorer, two weeks ago. The food in the dining room, that is. The Windjammer, however, ranged from poor to awful. We ate there three times during our nine night cruise, and it was three times too many. Much of the food on the buffet was cold, and there was never anywhere to sit. Also, the servers in the Windjammer were the only employees on the entire ship that I found to be unhelpful and unfriendly. It was impossible to get a drink. Unfortunately, the dining room is not open for lunch every day.

The Promenade Cafe had pizza, which was edible, and tiny little sandwiches, which were also edible. We preferred room service if everything else was closed. Johnny Rocket's was great and well worth the extra $$, and Portofino was absolutely excellent and a must-do for your cruise!!!
