Default Independence of the Seas

Hi
I just registered. It is very nice to be with you in this board.
My wife and I never cruised before and we just booked a Mediterranean cruise on the RCI Independence for next year, with our ten years daughter. We are so excited!
The independence is a freedom class ship.
Are there entertainments for the 10-11 years? And what are they?
Thanks

Lux: Welcome to Cruisemates and the wonderful world of cruising!
So, are you doing one of the transatlantic cruises that Independence is doing? I have had the opportunity to sail on Freedom of the Seas and I promise you that you will have a great time. You picked a wonderful ship for your 10-year old daughter and for yourselves. They have a great kid's programs and an area of the ship called the H2O Zone which is a really cool water park area. The ship also has the Flowrider where you all can surf or boogie board. Be prepared to become addicted to cruising, like the rest of us!

Thank you MaryLou

We are so happy reading this message board.

Since we booked the cruise we cannot stop talking about it. We are already addicted!
We live in the UK, so there is no transatlantic crossing. I believe the ship will be based in Southampton/UK.

I meant by my question the evenings. Can she join us in one of the evenings’ shows? Or do they have special evenings for this age group?

Thank you,

Lux: Yes, your daughter can attend the shows in the evening with you. Also, you don't want to miss the ice show. Sometimes they will have an "adults only" comedian, but that is a late show and they will advertise that the show is not for kids.

LUX, I'm sure that the kids program that MaryLou mentioned. It's called Adventure Ocean. When we cruise with our grandkids we have to pry them away from there. They are about the age of your daughter. Also it is an all day program and after a break for the staff it goes well into the night. Having something to do will not be a problem. Enjoy.

Hi

We are also booked on the Independance on the 26th July 2008. We have 2 children, girl 12 & boy 13.

This is our first time cruising and are really hoping the children enjoy themsleves.

We have a balcony stateroom with a sofa bed, I wonder if anyone could help re space. Do you think it will be too cramped and will there be enough storage space, also are there quiet areas on the ship to sit and have a drink. I'm a little worried that it may be one big amusement park.

I do think you will find the space a bit cramped with four in the same cabin, but you do not spend all that much time in your cabin anyway. There are plenty of quiet places onboard....I don't think you will think it is one big amusement park. I think there is a happy balance. I'm sure you will have a wonderful time and will the kids. Enjoy!

We have taken our granddaughter with us on 3 cruises from age
9 to 13. She loves the RC youth program. We always have the
late seating, so as not to miss what's going with her group, she
would eat early. Sometimes with her group. On formal nights, she
almost always joined us. We would go to the Windjammer with
her on other nights to keep her company while she ate her (earlier) dinner and
then she was off with her friends.

Yes, they can definitely join you for the shows. Dont miss the ice
show, it's great.

You'll love the ship and crusing.
