Default question on Fort Lauderdale

Our flight back home isn't till 4 pm. Can anybody recommend what things we can do while waiting at the airport? Any place we can visit that is nearby and can be easily accessible by public transportation? Thanks.

Your going to be in Dania Beach, which is a little poop of a town within eastern Fort Lauderdale. Not much to do pr see in Dania Beach. If you dare to get a cab from the airport, you could go to Las Olas Blvd. there are tons of bars and places to eat. its not too too far away.

Otherwise I would stay put. Also keep in mind the time and day you are here, traffic is heavy M-F 7-9 AM and again 3-6 PM. Sat and Sun is not as bad in the city except on Friday and Saturday nights after 8 PM.

Sometime during your cruise they will offer some post cruise excursions, a good way to kill some time and not sit at the airport. The excursions end at the airport and your luggage goes with you, so something to think about.

We booked the Everglades tour thru the ship and this included airport transportation. It was a great way to end the cruise and keep our vacation going. Our luggage was kept on the bus until we arrived at the airport.

The Everglades tour is a great way to spend a couple of hours. Within an easy taxi drive is: Dania Jai-Alai (matinees on Tuesday, Saturday & Sunday, 5 minutes from airport), Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor (try the kitchen sink! all homemade ice cream and toppings, 5 minutes from airport), Hollywood Beach, stroll along the beautiful boardwalk and people watch, Fort Lauderdale Beach (10 minutes from airport), lots of restaurants and bars on the beach including Bubba Gumps (run Forest run), Riverfront Park, gorgeous place to stroll and have food and drinks, (Imax Theatre is located there, 10 minutes from airport), and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino where Anna Nicole died is 15 minutes away, beautiful casino and lots of restaurants outside, and there is a huge Bass Pro Shop and Fishing Hall of Fame 15 minutes from the airport. Don't sit in the airport, if you have enough time, explore!!
