We sailed "Mariner" last year, and as a matter of fact, the lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) and I found the food in the dining room to be very good, to excellent. No problems at all! Buffet food IMO was O.K., but nothing special. Breakfast at the buffet was very good however.
I doubt that you'll have any problems with the food. There's plenty of it, and overall, it's very good.

Default Mariner food

Do try Portofino or Chops $20 pp but sooo worth it; book it asap arriving the ship.

Dinng room was good to v. good. Had a couple of bad cuts of beef; but chicken and fish dishes were v. good. Did not find much at the buffet that I liked meats and fish overcooked and tough. Lunch was good if I stuck to soup salad and really good sandwiches. One day they had steamed broccoli that was great, wish I knew what they did to it it had a hint of some broth or subtle spice.

Breads are to die for and desserts good, great cookies esp. the coconut ones.

There is always room svc which is pretty good or pizza or sandwiches on the promenade at Sorrentos

You get to enjoy your vacation that much faster than us. Our cruise is still 6 months away but it can't get here fast enough.

:D My husband and I are going on the mariner also on Dec.2nd.
It is our first cruise and I am sooo excited. We have a balcony room on level 6.
I like all the replies about the food. Very helpful to me since I have never been on a cruise.
Is CHOPS worth the 40$ for my husband and I to go to. He loves steaks so I thought that would be a good resturant for him but I want to make sure it is worth the extra $.
Also has anyone ever booked excursions on thier own and not with the cruise line?
