Default The Big Red Boat

I was on the big Red boat some time in the mid 90's. I have lost all my pictures and info from all of my past cruises but would love to remember what ports I had been to.

The ship had turned to Looney Tunes when I was on it. Does any one know the ports that she went to ? Thanks for any help

Wasn´t she engaged in three and four night cruises from Port Canaveral to Nassau and Salt Key
Whatever that has to do with posting on the RCI board

Yes, and this was my very first cruise May of 1989. Starship Majestic, Diney characters onboard, the official cruise line of Walt Disney World before Disney had their own ships built. We left Port Canaveral, went to the Abacos and then to a private island they had set up. It was a great time. This ship is still sailing in Europe somewhere as the Flamenco I believe. I have some good pictures at home but this was before digital cameras.

Thanks every one. Im not sure how to delete this nessage and move to somewhere else but im working on it.
I know we went to someplace that sounded like St Lucia. I know that is another Island. Maybe port Lucia??? I had never heard of this place before we went there. This will drive me crazy along with the other trips I cant remember. I do remember at this place they had a christmas tree set up and I think it was Jan . I thought it was so great to be on the island sweating and seeing the tree. what a great memory.

Flamenco

Originally planned as the Seaward for Norwegian Caribbean Line, this ship was taken over by the Peninsular & Orieantal Steam Navigation Company (P&O) while still under construction. Launched as the Spirit of London the ship was later transferred to sister company Princess Cruises and renamed the Sun Princess. Sold to Premier Cruise Line in 1989, the vessel became the Starship Majestic. Following a short charter to British CTC Cruise Lines in 1996/97, she was acquired by Festival Cruises in 1997.

Operator: Festival Cruises Capacity (double occupancy): 798
Builder: Cant. Nav. dell Tirreno e Riuniti Full Capacity: 987
Inaugurated: 1972 Space Ratio: 21.9 / 17.7
Gross Tonnage: 17,503 gt Crew: 350
Length: 536 ft. / 163 m Berlitz® Rating: ***

There was more than one Big Red Boat but this was the Majestic. We were two couple sharing an ocean view. There were four bunks two upper and tow lower. There was enough space between them to just pass through. We were just above the water line and enjoyed watching the waves splash against the porthole.

The Oceanic...

StarShip Oceanic/Big Red Boat 1 (Premier Cruises: 1986-2000)

Two Premier Cruises official cards of StarShip Oceanic - The Big Red Boat. Oceanic was bought from Home Lines in 1985. Oceanic became the sole remaining ship in the Premier fleet, before the fleet was enlarged again following the amalgamation with Dolphin and Seawind. The card details are:- The incredible Star/Ship Oceanic is part of the Premier Star/Ship fleet, sailing from Port Canaveral on 3 and 4-night cruises to Nassau and Salt Cay. Premier's Cruise and Disney Week offers the best cruise to the Bahamas with a Walt Disney World vacation.

Wow this brings back memories. My first cruise was on one of the big red boats back in 1986 (8th grade) with my grandparents. I was hooked from that point on. Now 21 years,20 plus cruises, many lbs, and many 12 ounce adult beverages I am still addicted. I do remember this cruise went to Nassau and a private island. For some reason I do remember that they said this was the island the filmed Giligan's Island from - from the sky not actually the island. Who knows? All I know is it gives me great pleasure remebering my first cruise with my grandparents who have now passed on. Now my wife and I are able to create the same type of memories with our three kids. Life could be worse.

If I remember correctly, I left from Port Canaveral and we went to Nassau and Freeport.

It was great reading all of this!!! We, too, were on The Big Red Boat back in 1987 with our three kids. That was our first cruise! We liked the experience so much that we got into the travel business so we could go on cruises more often and with the travel perks! jack & linda

Default Could it be ...

Could the destination have been called Lucaya?

This was Freeport, Grand Bahama.
