You may want to bring in your carry-on a change of clothes for dinner, just in case you don't see your luggage until after dinner. Most times its there, but not always. I just don't like to travel and then wear the same thing to dinner, but of course you can do that too. You are allowed 2 carry-on's to fly, one being your purse.

Hi Louise, we got out luggage last year on Grandeur about 3:00 p.m., well before dinner. That said, we carry swim suits, prescription meds, laptops, electronics (mp3 players, game machines, etc), cameras, all Lisa's jewelry, change of clothes for dinner, and of course, all our paperwork(Set Sail pass, passports, other id, credit card that you're going to use for Sea Pass account, copies of documents for any obc's). It typically winds up being two bags for us, my rolling computer case for laptops, electronics and paperwork, and Lisa's rolling 16 inch carryon bag. We stack the two bags so I can easily handle them by rolling them around until the rooms are open. Last year, the fire doors were shut until they opened the staterooms for access at 1:00 p.m.

Please do not let the kids check any electronics, there have been too many threads talking about backpacks full of Ipods and game machines not making it onto the ship, not necessarily Baltimore, but you don't want to tempt fate.

Hope that helps.

Yep,

All game machines, mp3 players, and video players should be in carry ons. They can each have a backpack or something like that, if they want to put their individual stuff in and that makes it relatively easy to carry. There are department stores in San Juan, and there's a K-Mart within walking distance at Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas. I had to go buy socks in March, the TSA didn't put my socks back in my bag when they searched it in Youngstown, OH. I was quite surprised when I got my luggage, and had one pair of socks! . I'm looking forward to meeting you folks when we get to the ship. I'll be looking for your red and white leis.

Later shipmates!

Ok I just found out that a carry on bag is not a bag that you fling on your shoulder. I was thinking that is what it was and was saying how on earth am I going to pack for for in that TOTE bag.

I think now understand what is considered a carry on bag.. it has wheels just like my case but smaller. So just to let you all know. I was so overwhelmed yesterday trying to figure out how on earth I was going to do this all when my friend (Gail) told me what her carry on bag Looks like. OH BOY>.. I think I HATE PACKING.. OBVIOUSLY IM NOT EXPERIENCED AT ALL.

SO QUESTION: DO YOU PUT LUGGAGE TAGS ON YOUR CARRY ON BAGS AS WELL..????

SO WHAT IS IT THAT YOU ARE ALOUD PER PERSON ANYWAY.

IM GUESSING; 1 WHEELY CARRY ON APPROX 20" IN HEIGHT.
1 SUITCASE....

OK THAT IS ALL FOR NOW...
THANKS. lOUISE

YES, put your luggage tags on all your carry ons. If you forget your bags somewhere the porter or crew (once onboard) will know who the bags belong to. The first thing we do when we get onboard is to go eat, cause we're starving. It's easy to leave a bag at the restaurant. Better to be safe then sorry.

I always keep in my carry ons anything that is too important to be lost or replaced. This also includes when flying on the airline.

We keep with us at all times:
Passports, cruise documents, money/travelers checks, keys to the house/car, prescription medicines, spare contact lenses/glasses, DVD players, Ipods, laptop, makeup..you get the ideal.

I also pack one suitcase with basic clothes. but I concentrate more on the stuff that can't be replaced and will ruin your trip. Imagine not having your asthma or high blood pressure medicine or your contact lens gets ruined and you can't see. Stuff like that.

Also, if you are flying in the day before, I now designate one suitcase for the next day's clothes. Why open all the suitcases to find the outfits you are going to wear the next day and have to repack everything.

You only put the ship luggage tags on the bags you turn over to the porters at the pier. All your carry on will stay with you, no need for tags.
