Default Overall review of Mariner for April '08.

Need overall review of Mariner to E. Caribbean. Staff, cleanliness, etc. What Excusion would be good for Puerto Rico, arriving late afternoon. Also a good lay on the beach excusion for the middle aged adult in St. Thomas, and excursion for French St. Martin? Any feedback on a Promanade Room appreciated; how noisy? On formal night, is it an absolute for a jacket & tie for men? Always done Carnival cruises, any contrasts between the two? Thanks

Hey there!
I just returned last Sunday from cruising on the Mariner . I can't speak as to the Eastern Caribbean as we were on the Western but can definetly say that the staff all the way around were awesome! We felt like we had gone first class all the way! It was wonderful! Everyone from our stateroom attendant to our waiters were terrific. Formal nights were very nice. My husband chose to rent a tux. However, we saw men in tux's, nice jacket and tie and even just a nice collar shirt (which I was kind of irked that they had allowed for formal night since there are other dinning alternatives if you don't want to dress up but.........). We had a balcony room so can't really help with your promenade room question either. The ship and it's staff are absolutely fabulous though! Very clean too btw....we walked in on our stateroom attendant one day who was in the middle of cleaning and doing a really thorough job at that! Never saw the rest of the ship be anything other than spic an span
Enjoy!

We've done the Mariner twice to the Western Carib so can't comment on excursions but you should love the ship. On our last cruise our daughters cabin was on the Promenade which was fun for people watching but yes, it was loud since her cabin was right above the Wig and Gavel Pub.
I agree, if you're not going to dress up for formal night choose one of the other dining options. The majority of passengers do dress up.
Enjoy your cruise.

What deck was your daughters' cabin on? We got a promenade cabin for our daughters on Deck 7, believing Deck 6 might be too noisy. I hope that will be ok as I probably still have time to change this if I want to.
