Get an international calling card with pre-paid minutes. You'll be all set.

When we were docked in Jamaica, we had an issue, which could have meant, my husband would need to fly home....His cell phoned burned up the airways...shortly after we got home, the bill came....$190.00for those calls, and a few others in Coz.....OY!

In Cozumel walk down towards Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. On the opposite of the street there is this little place called the No Name internet cafe. You can call home in there on one of their phones for .35 per minute and 30 minutes of internet use was like a few dollars. This is the cheapest place we found. Our verizon phone worked there but was .99 a minute.

If you have a cell phone, go on their website & look at the rates for International.

I know on Sprint when I went on my cruise, I was able to pick the islands I wanted added to my International plan & then when I got home, I shut the International down.

Seriously, other than family issues, no need for a cell. You are on vacation! Leave it in your suitcase.

Jimmy Buffet's restaurant is just about a block or so down the street from the end of the long pier you walk down off the ship. At the end of the pier go to your left...you will walk past the 2 or 3 story bldg ...you pass it and kind of weave in and out between 2 bldgs and then hang to your right. JB's will be on your right and the internet/phone place will bo on opposite side of street just before you get to the restaurant.
