Default Cruise of of San Juan, PR

We are taking the Dec. 23 cruise out of Puerto Rico, and the ship does not leave the port until 10:00 p.m. Does anyone know of "things to do" in San Juan before arriving at the port? We are a family of 8 with babies - any suggestions? Also, what time should be arrive at the port? Thank for any info.

You can normally start boarding in San Juan around noon. Once you go through the check in process, you can then go into town. If you are at the pier in Old San Juan, you can easily walk around, possibly visit one of the forts and get back in time for the regular dinner times. Just remember to take your sign/sail card that you just got.

Have fun!

San Juan streets are all cobblestones, and hard to manuver, so, if your babies will be in carriages, just take note..Since you are departing on a Sunday, there really will nothing open. I would check on a San Juan tourism site to see what might be open. If nothing worthwhile is available to see, you all might be more comfortable onboard. Have a great cruise!

I agree with Trip trying to manuver a baby carriage around San Juan is difficult. I did end up taking my son out of the stroller and carrying him alittle extra weight to carry buy easier! 8)

I would just enjoy the ship while in port at San Juan.

Thank you everyone for all your great advice. I think we will just enjoy staying on the ship. There are a lot of activities on board even before sailing and we will also need some time to get the kids settled. Is there any advice out there regarding cruising with a 1 year old and a 2 month old This is our Christmas gift to the kids and will be our 5th cruise - never cruised with kids before.
