Default Need advice on time of flight after disembarkment

Hi everyone just stumbled on to this website tons of great advice, all of us first timers thank you!
I need advice on what time I should book my return flight from fort Lauderdale. I will be traveling on Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the seas on dec 10-15. What is the earliest you can get off the boat? Alot of people say different things it seems like you have to be in know to get off early. One possible flight leaves at 9:00am is that much to early? If so what is a resonable time. Thank You for any advice!

My best advice is to travel back home the next day after your ship returns home. You get off the ship all relaxed. You have one extra day. If anything happens where your delayed (it does happen), your not sweating about missing your flight.

If you must fly back the same day, book your flight for later in the afternoon.

Life is too short to let the ship of your dreams sail without you.

First off, if you're getting of the boat, it's real trouble; that means the ship sunk

Ft Lauderdale airport is quite close to the port, so it's a bit easier to get o than other ports of call. However, with customs and other circumstances there can be delays clearing the ship, and then of course lines and security at the airport. I wouldn't recommend booking a flight before 11 AM at the very earliest!

Kuki, I agree with your advice, it's too stressful to schedule a flight much before noon. Also thanks for pointing out that a cruise ship is not a boat, it always anoys me when people refer to a ship as (the boat ).

It sounds like we all agree.... Definitely not before 11:00 and 12:00 is probably better for peace of mind if nothing else...

BTW... I think you'll really enjoy Enchantment, she is a beautiful ship. Here's some pictures:

I would follow the advice of Dina-if you can spend a day in the area, drive down to South Beach or just relax. If you have to leave that day make it later in the afternoon.

I like to book my air through the cruise line
yes...you pay a little more...but just like booking excursions, the cruise line knows where you are at and to some extent will wait for you.
If you book the air on your own, and the flight is late the "boat" () will not wait for you.

Air from Cleveland is 409.00 per person through the cruise line. With fuel prices going the way they are, this may prove to be a bargain next October.

But agreed for disembark days...book flights after noon
